Ohel's School Support Services Department is seeking a compassionate, engaging, and collaborative mental health professional to join our team as a Part-Time School Counselor serving yeshivas and day schools throughout the New York and Long Island area. In this rewarding role, you'll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by supporting the social, emotional, and behavioral well-being of students in elementary and/or high school settings. Working closely with teachers, administrators, and families, you'll help students build the skills they need to thrive both in and out of the classroom. During the summer months, counselors continue this meaningful work by providing consultation and mental health support in local day camps, partnering with camp staff to foster campers' social-emotional well-being and address behavioral and emotional needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and group counseling to students experiencing challenges with emotion regulation, executive functioning, social skills, and peer relationships
  • Facilitate groups focused on topics such as social skills, coping strategies, bullying prevention, crisis response, and emotional wellness
  • Collaborate with teachers and school staff to promote students' social-emotional growth and academic success
  • Support the implementation of social-emotional learning (SEL) initiatives through teacher consultation, trainings, and student workshops
  • Develop individualized treatment goals, maintain timely documentation, and communicate with parents when appropriate to support student progress
  • Make referrals to outside resources when additional services would benefit the student

 

Qualifications:

  • LMSW, MSW, LCAT, or a Masters degree in a related mental health field
  • Knowledge of child and adolescent development
  • Experience working with children and adolescents in an educational setting
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills

Excellent supervision is provided in a growth-oriented, collaborative setting. Eligibility for all benefits is based on hours worked, employment classification, and fulfillment of applicable waiting periods and plan requirements. This part time position is 17.5 hours and located in Queens and Long Island.

 Salary: $33.00 per hour
