Job Functions: 

 
1. Provide direct and indirect support to the Crisis Intervention program including: 
a. Non-clinical support provided to patients in crisis that are experiencing mental health, co-occurring and related behavioral health stressors. 
b. Provide education on and an overall orientation the Crisis Intervention program, outlying program functions and the role the Crisis Intervention team has in linking individuals to treatment. 
c. Engagement with patients experiencing a mental health and/or substance abuse crisis and their family members.
d. Assist with initiation of referrals for inpatient and outpatient treatment outside of host hospital. 
e. Assist with initiation of pre-authorization, transportation requests, and other required items to assist in transfer of patient to the recommended level of care. 
f. Conduct follow-up phone calls for patient's discharged from the Crisis Intervention department with recommended outpatient follow up. Document the follow-up phone call result in EPIC and alert Crisis Clinician, Lead Crisis Clinician and/or ABH Coordinator of need for escalation. 
2. Documentation
a. Document all interactions with/for patient care (both indirect and direct support) in the electronic medical record as noted in departmental policy and guidelines. 
b. Assist in management of required legal documentation for voluntary, involuntary and pediatric psychiatric admissions
c. Assist Crisis Clinicians with ancillary, non-clinical documentation/requirements at the conclusion of a patient's encounter with Crisis Intervention required for departmental reporting and collection purposes. 
 
3.Interdisciplinary Professionalism 
a. Collaborate as part of the interdisciplinary team including nursing, psychiatric providers, social work, medical providers and peer specialists, where applicable and requested. 
b. Maintain professional relationships with external professional agencies involved in patient's care. 
c. Maintain professional relationships with colleagues within the hospital system. 
 
4. Quality- Assist with and collaborate in the completion of departmental quality, performance and safety initiatives. 
 
5. Education - Complete assigned departmental competencies and educational requirements as assigned and within the time frame required. 
6. Service Line Support- Assist and complete pre-authorizations, ancillary and supporting documentation and referral/linkage needs for other Crisis Intervention sites remotely, as requested. 
7. Collaborate and coordinate with departmental leadership. 
Other tasks may be required and/or requested by departmental leadership.
