A Brief Overview
Provide pediatric patients, families, and groups with outpatient based mental health therapy under the supervision of a designated clinical supervisor.
Essential Functions
- Clinical Care
- Provide individual, family and/or group therapy for children, adolescents, and families
◦ 24 session slots and 1 emergency session slot per week
- Shadow and provide psychological consults within different levels of care
- Attend and participate in department meetings - clinical and organizational
- Documentation
◦ Appropriately documents intakes, therapy sessions, safety plans, treatment plans and terminations summaries in the electronic medical record.
◦ All notes will be completed within 5 days
◦ All intake and therapy notes will be sent to the Lead Therapist to cosign
◦ Any edits requested by the Lead Therapist will be completed within 3 days
- Care Coordination
◦ Collaboration of care with appropriate disciplines (PCPs, Psychiatry, etc)
◦ Provides referrals for patient and family needs
◦ Shares appropriate resource materials and information with patients/families.
◦ Utilizes social work support as needed
◦ Triage of crisis calls to determine appropriate level of care (referral to CAC vs. safety planning)
- Ethical and Safety
◦ Documents pertinent information and completes all CPS reports in a timely fashion in collaboration with social work staff and in accordance to related policies and ethical standards.
◦ Notes with any safety concern will be completed on the same day as the encounter
◦ The therapist will share any ethical or safety concerns with the Lead therapist on the same business day
- Active Engagement in Learning and Clinical Supervision
- Attends 2 hours of clinical supervision meetings per every 15 patients seen
- Is prepared and engaged in discussions for supervision meetings
- Periodically presents clinical information that the therapist has been studying
- Throughout all phases, therapists will invest time in continuing education (independent reading and therapy based group courses) to strengthen clinical skills.
In this learning role, there will be three phases:
- Phase 1 – Clinical Care will be shadowed by LI Pathway therapist
- Phase 2 – LI Pathway therapists will be supervised as the therapist conducts their own intake and therapy sessions
- Phase 3 – LI Pathway therapists will conduct intake and therapy sessions independently
Education Qualifications
- Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work Required or
- Master's Degree in a mental health related field with associated field experience Required
Experience Qualifications
- Experience in medical social work or healthcare Preferred
Skills and Abilities
- Requires knowledge of human behavior, social problems, counseling modalities, and community resources.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written form, relaying case information to patients/families, physicians, and other healthcare professionals, attorneys and law enforcement as needed.
Licenses and Certifications
- Current and Valid Masters Social Worker and Mental Health Practitioner licensure in the state of Nebraska Required
- A valid driver's license and an acceptable motor vehicle record/driving record Required and
- For Behavioral Health Team Members: Cover inpatient consults one weekend day per week under a licensed provider supervision. Required
