- The MA/MS Emergency Evaluator primarily provides assessments and intervention services for individuals experiencing behavioral health crises and/or seeking substance abuse detoxification services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates a cooperative attitude to problem solving and conflict resolution with all levels of staff and in all interactions with families and outside professionals.
- Documents all contacts and evaluations using established methods and protocol in a timely, legible manner and in accordance with Center policy and procedures.
- Ability to successfully complete initial and annual Techniques for Effective Aggression Management (TEAM) defensive technique training and verbal de-escalation training.
- This position performs initial and preliminary assessment of individuals entering LifeStream Behavioral Center’s continuum of services.
- Provides face to face assessments to individuals deemed by themselves or others to be in crisis and needing immediate behavioral health treatment.
- Assists individuals to obtain services not provided by the Access Center by linking to other programs within LifeStream or referring to professionals outside LifeStream’s array of services when necessary.
- The ability to comply with the regulations requiring a workplace of dignity and respect and equal employment opportunity compliance.QualificationsRequired Education:
- Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field from an accredited institution.
Required Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in emergency mental health evaluation or crisis intervention.
- Experience working in a behavioral health setting, preferably in emergency services.
- Familiarity with mental health assessment tools and techniques.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess and evaluate mental health emergencies effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for interaction with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle high-stress situations calmly and efficiently.
- Proficient in documentation and record-keeping related to patient evaluations and interventions.
- Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards in mental health care.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on providing immediate and appropriate interventions.
