Limited Licensed Master Social Worker – Full-Time
Ellie Mental Health–Clarkston is an independently owned private practice providing in-person and telehealth care throughout Michigan. Our furnished clinic and administrative support, including billing, allow clinicians to focus primarily on client care and professional development.
We seek a compassionate and motivated Michigan LLMSW to join a collaborative practice grounded in authenticity, compassion, creativity, humor, acceptance, and determination.
Compensation
This is a W-2 straight-commission position, not a salaried position. Clinicians earn a commission percentage of collected insurance and client payments for completed services, a common compensation model in outpatient private practice.
The commission compensates the clinician’s regular responsibilities, including session preparation, client sessions, scheduling and client communication, documentation, treatment planning, required meetings, and required supervision. These activities do not receive separate hourly compensation.
Unlike a 1099 contractor arrangement, the W-2 model includes employee benefits, employer-paid payroll taxes, and applicable employment protections.
Caseload Development
Building and maintaining a caseload is a shared responsibility. The practice provides marketing, online scheduling, administrative support, community relationships, and practice-generated referrals.
Clinicians must also maintain consistent availability, respond promptly to referrals, support client engagement and retention, communicate their specialties, and participate in approved practice-development and outreach activities.
Approved activities may include community events, referral-source follow-ups, delivering outreach materials, developing professional relationships, researching clinic-growth opportunities, and preparing outreach materials. These activities are paid at $20 per hour only when discussed and authorized in advance by the Clinical Director or Owner.
Full-time clinicians must average at least 25 direct client-facing hours per week and initially provide approximately 35 scheduling hours per week to support caseload growth and accommodate cancellations. At least one evening of availability is required.
Responsibilities
- Conduct mental health intake assessments and establish diagnoses within LLMSW scope of practice
- Develop individualized treatment plans and provide evidence-based psychotherapy
- Complete progress notes, treatment plans, risk documentation, diagnostic updates, and other required records accurately and on time
- Submit documentation promptly for required supervisory review and co-signature
- Attend required clinical supervision, maintain supervision records, and implement feedback
- Maintain consistent scheduling availability and follow up appropriately after cancellations
- Respond promptly and professionally to new referrals
- Support client engagement, retention, continuity of care, and appropriate discharge planning
- Participate in consultation, staff meetings, training, and quality-improvement activities
- Communicate professionally with clients, families, supervisors, colleagues, billing personnel, and referral partners
- Participate actively in approved caseload-development and community-outreach activities
Required Qualifications
- Current Michigan LLMSW license in good standing
- Master of Social Work degree from a CSWE-accredited program
- Eligibility to practice clinical social work under appropriate Michigan supervision
- Commitment to maintaining required supervision and completing the steps toward full LMSW licensure
- Experience with assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, psychotherapy, risk assessment, and clinical documentation
- Ability to complete documentation within practice and payer timelines
- Willingness to take an active role in building and maintaining a caseload
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Dependability, organization, initiative, professional boundaries, and follow-through
- Ability to serve diverse clients competently while remaining within scope of practice
- Proficiency with electronic health records and office technology; Valant experience is preferred
Preferred Qualifications
- Outpatient or private-practice experience
- Experience with insurance-based documentation and medical necessity requirements
- Progress toward independent LMSW licensure
- Community outreach, professional networking, presentation, or marketing experience
- Clinical specialties responsive to community needs
