POSITION SUMMARY
The Manager, Life & Workforce Readiness provides strategic leadership for all life skills and workforce development programming at Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Dallas (BGCD), serving members ages 6-18. This role is responsible for designing, delivering, and expanding a continuum of programming that moves young people through three intentional stages — Explore, Develop, and Apply — from early curiosity and foundational skill-building through hands-on training, industry certifications, and real-world work experience.
 
This position manages the BLUEprint paid training program, oversees the delivery of grant-funded workforce initiatives, and actively builds new educational and internship partnerships with corporations, higher education institutions, and community organizations. This role serves as a key relationship ambassador for BGCD — connecting club members, donors, and corporate partners through authentic engagement and a shared commitment to young people's futures.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Design & Delivery
  • Build, launch, and continuously improve a comprehensive life and workforce readiness curriculum spanning ages 6-18, organized around the Explore, Develop, and Apply framework.
  • Oversee all BLUEprint paid training program cohorts — including current and future tracks in areas such as broadcast production, fashion design, drone technology, music production, and textile arts, coding, and more — ensuring quality delivery and positive participant outcomes.
  • Ensure age-appropriate programming exists at each stage, from career exploration for younger members to certified workforce training and paid internships for teens.
  • Develop new course offerings and expand the program portfolio in response to workforce trends, community needs, and emerging partner opportunities.
Grant Management & Deliverables
  • Serve as the primary manager for all workforce-related grant programs, ensuring full compliance with deliverables, reporting deadlines, and funder requirements.
  • Manage active and incoming grant partnerships including MLB at Work, FIFA/Coca-Cola FC Academy, Old Navy Workforce Program, Money Matters Financial Literacy, and others as secured.
  • Maintain accurate grant documentation including enrollment records, attendance, certification completions, demographic reach, and expenditure tracking.
  • Coordinate the distribution of scholarship dollars to ensure timely and accurate disbursement.
  • Process and track stipend payments related to the Workforce Readiness Plan.
  • Identify and pursue new grant and funding opportunities that align with the department's workforce and education mission.
Education & Internship Pathway Expansion
  • Actively cultivate partnerships with colleges, universities, and vocational institutions to create articulation pathways, stackable credentials, dual enrollment opportunities, and college credit for program completions.
  • Develop and manage internship and work experience pipelines with corporate partners, placing qualified teens into professional environments.
  • Connect program graduates to employment opportunities, apprenticeships, and continued education resources.
  • Coordinate college readiness programming including professional development workshops, etiquette training, mock interview experiences, and career exploration events.
Relationship Building & Community Engagement
  • Serve as a primary relationship manager and ambassador for BGCD's life and workforce initiatives, engaging authentically across all demographics — club members, families, donors, and corporate partners.
  • Build and sustain strong partnerships with employers, community organizations, school districts, and higher education institutions to expand opportunity for club members.
  • Represent BGCD at community events, partner meetings, and donor engagements with professionalism and a compelling articulation of program impact.
  • Engage club members and families as active stakeholders, ensuring programming is welcoming, culturally responsive, and member-centered.
  • Collaborate with the Development team to support grant prospecting, donor stewardship, and storytelling efforts that highlight program outcomes.
Staff Supervision & Site Coordination
  • Supervise assigned staff and site-based coordinators responsible for delivering life and workforce programming across BGCD's multiple club locations.
  • Provide consistent coaching, professional development, and performance feedback to direct reports.
  • Coordinate schedules, logistics, and resources across club sites to ensure equitable and high-quality program delivery.
Reporting & Organizational Alignment
  • Provide regular program updates, performance data, and grant compliance reports to the Vice President of Programs and Director of Impact  & Compliance.
  • Maintain a master program tracker with current statuses, key dates, action items, and outcome metrics for all programs within the portfolio.
  • Align programming with BGCD's strategic priorities and national Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) standards and reporting requirements.
Program Event Support
  • Support Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Dallas program events, including Collegiate Steps competitions, Building Industry Leaders, and sports programs such as basketball, football, and soccer.
  • Coordinate event logistics including confirming referee assignments and ensuring officials are present for sporting events.
  • Oversee broadcast booth setup and support podcast teams in covering Club events.
  • Ensure concessions are organized and operational at program events.
  • Confirm that Keystone Clubs are present and engaged at relevant events and activities.
Other
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the program team and organizational goals.
QUALIFICATIONS
 
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Youth Development, Social Work, Nonprofit Management, Workforce Development, or a related field required.
Experience
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in youth programming, workforce development, or nonprofit management, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Demonstrated success managing grant-funded programs with strong compliance and reporting outcomes.
  • Experience building and maintaining partnerships with corporate, educational, and community organizations.
  • Experience designing or scaling workforce, internship, or paid training programs for youth strongly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills — able to build genuine, lasting relationships with youth, families, donors, and corporate partners across all backgrounds and demographics.
  • Strong communicator (written and verbal) with the ability to represent BGCD's mission compellingly to diverse audiences.
  • Highly organized with strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple programs and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of youth workforce development best practices and post-secondary education pathways.
  • Familiarity with grant compliance, program documentation, and outcome measurement.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) and comfortable with program tracking tools.
  • Passionate about equipping young people with the skills, confidence, and connections they need to thrive.
  • Ability to guide members, including leadership with conflict resolution
  • Working knowledge of budget preparation, control, and management
  • Skills in fund-raising events
  • Demonstrated ability in working with young people, parents and community leaders
  • Demonstrated skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, experience with database applications.
  • Leadership skills, including negotiation, problem solving, decision-making.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the Board of Directors, staff, community groups, and other related agencies.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license, less than 5 points on DMV record, and be willing to drive company vehicles (e.g. 10-passenger van); local and statewide travel occasionally required.
  • Must be able to pass background check and necessary clearances.

WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Regular travel between multiple BGCD club sites required.
  • This position generally operates Monday through Friday from 10:00 – 7:00 PM,  however, frequent evening and weekend work is required to support Club programs,  events, trainings, and other organizational activities. The Manager must maintain a flexible schedule and be available to respond to program, safety, and operational needs as necessary. 
  • Summer programming requires schedule flexibility for cohort programs, field experiences, and capstone events.
PHYSICAL & MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Maintain a high energy level.
Frequently lift, carry or otherwise move and position objects weighing up to 25 pounds when preparing rooms for activities.
Ability to perform duties effectively under stressful conditions; ability to make decisions quickly and accurately with tact and impartiality.
Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

SALARY RANGE:  $50,000 - $60,000
