Intake-Officer of the Day Specialist - Bilingual (SP)


The Organization

North Los Angeles County Regional Center “NLACRC” is a private, non-profit agency that is contracted with the State of California, Department of Developmental Services, to provide services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. NLACRC is one of the largest regional centers in California and has proudly served the San Fernando Valley, Santa Clarita Valley, and Antelope Valley since 1974. We serve individuals across the lifespan from infants and toddlers, school age children, transition-age youth, to adults and aging adults.

Department – SFV Intake - Officer of the Day Specialist - Bilingual (SP)


Supervision

Receives supervision from the Intake Supervisor/Intake Manager 

The Position and Job Summary

  • Assist callers and walk-ins with inquiries about applying for Lanterman Services. 
  • Assist families with completing an application for Lanterman eligibility over the phone, email, or in-person.
  • Assist callers and walk-ins with Intake case management inquiries.
  • Gathering of initial documentation related to eligibility category of concern. 
  • Obtaining records and sign releases/consents.
  • Provide resources available in the community. 
  • Update demographics in the agency computer system and document daily case activity. 
  • Review DCFS portal for referrals and accuracy. 
  • Provide caseload coverage as needed.
  • Provide follow-up on uncovered caseloads including records follow-up. 
  • Follow-up on outstanding information and assignments.
  • Assist with special projects and unique situations. 
  • Provide administrative and operational support to the department as needed. 
  • Perform other duties consistent with department needs. 

Employment Standards 

Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, sociology, or related human services field and two years of related experience. A Master’s degree in a related subject may be substituted for experience. 

Skills and Abilities 

Skills & AbilitiesUnderstanding of family systems and developmental disabilities. Excellent customer service on the telephone and in person. Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. Accurate and rapid typing for input of data. Attention to detail. Ability to prioritize and multitask to meet timelines. Good organizational skills, demonstrated ability to work independently and cooperatively as part of an interdisciplinary team. Review and present information obtained in a concise manner. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 

Essential Requirements: Knowledge of developmental or related disabilities, social service provision and basic community resources. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook & internet use. Utilize ear/microphone piece. Bilingual in English and Spanish. Reliable transportation. Willing to travel to the Antelope Valley Office as needed. In-office during regular business hours, Monday-Friday.


Compensation

This position is non-exempt. Regular Salary: $30.08 - $42.50 per hour, plus $69.24 per bi-weekly pay period for bilingual services.

Starting salary is typically between the $30.08 and $33.20 of the range, depending on internal equity and experience.

Base Pay Rate / Salary Range Information

The actual amount offered within the posted salary/pay rate range will depend on a variety of factors, including degree obtained/education, experience, skills and abilities, and other relevant job-related factors. The lower end of salary range applies to candidates who meet minimum qualifications or have limited years of relevant experience; the higher end of range will apply to seasoned candidates with considerable years of direct relevant experience.
