The Psychiatric Institute of Washington

Provides comprehensive behavioral healthcare for children, adolescents, adults, and senior adults suffering from mental health and addictive illnesses.  PIW is a 130 bed, short-term, acute care hospital offering inpatient, partial and intensive outpatient hospitalization, as well as specialized treatment programs for chemical dependency.  PIW has an excellent reputation as an innovative hospital with caring, dedicated staff, experienced in the delivery of behavioral healthcare.  Situated in the safe, historical Tenleytown neighborhood, PIW is one mile from the Tenleytown Metro stop and within walking distance to local cafes and restaurants.

 

The role: The Human Resources Coordinator plays a key role in supporting the HR Generalists and Human Resources Director by facilitating various human resources functions aligned with PIW and departmental objectives. This position involves assisting with recruitment and onboarding activities, such as conducting background and reference checks and coordinating new hire orientation. Additionally, the Human Resources Coordinator is responsible for maintaining employee records, accurately managing HRIS data entry, and serving as the primary point of contact for employee inquiries.

 

Job Duties/Responsbilities:

 

  • Assist with job postings, interview scheduling, and participation in recruitment events; coordinate pre-employment processes such as drug screens and background checks; organize and present at new hire orientations, including preparation of orientation materials and logistics.
  • HRIS and Data Management: Process employee status changes through ePAFs and HRIS; manage tuition reimbursement requests and generate HR reports; accurately maintain personnel and contractor files ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Compliance and Audit Support: Complete employer portions of Form I-9 and track documentation expirations; support external audits by providing required files and documentation; track and manage employee license and certification renewals; assist with Health Stream training administration.
  • Employee Absence and Leave Administration: Respond to workers’ compensation inquiries; communicate return-to-work and accommodation details to managers; manage FMLA and other leaves, update employee statuses, and coordinate light duty requests.
  • Employee Engagement and Service Excellence: Serve on the Service Excellence Committee and support organizational events; assist with employee engagement initiatives including stay interviews and retention strategies; act as the first point of contact for employee inquiries; contribute content to the PIW Newsletter.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelors Degree
  • 2-4 years of experience in Human Resources role ( minimum)
  • SHRM-CP or PHR (Preferred)
