Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm EST

Location: 1975 Technology Dr​. Suite J-120 Troy, MI 48083

Compensation: $22.50/Hour

SUMMARY 

The Hospice Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing all volunteer program activities within the hospice organization. This role recruits, trains, and supports volunteers who contribute to the care and support of patients, families, and administrative operations, ensuring that volunteer services are compliant with regulatory standards and aligned with the mission of the organization. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Develop, implement, and manage the hospice volunteer program in compliance with federal, state, and organizational standards 

  • Recruit, screen, and onboard volunteers for patient-facing and administrative support roles 

  • Provide orientation and ongoing training for volunteers 

  • Assign volunteers to roles that align with their interests and patient needs 

  • Maintain accurate volunteer documentation, including hours, activities, background checks, and compliance records 

  • Monitor volunteer performance and provide coaching, recognition, and feedback 

  • Collaborate with clinical and support staff to integrate volunteers effectively into care teams 

  • Plan and coordinate volunteer appreciation events and recognition activities 

  • Ensure volunteer utilization meets Medicare Conditions of Participation requirements for hospice 

  • Participate in community outreach efforts to promote the volunteer program 

  • Maintain strong communication with volunteers to support engagement and retention 

  • Perform other duties as assigned 

  

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • 1–2 years of experience coordinating volunteers, preferably in a healthcare or hospice setting 

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills 

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and volunteer tracking systems 

  • Compassionate, organized, and able to work with diverse populations 

EDUCATION AND CREDENTIALS 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred
