SUMMARY OF POSITION: The Graduate Admissions Counselor is an integral component of the Converse University Admissions team and requires an enthusiastic, high-energy individual who is determined to meet the University's enrollment goals. The individual must be committed to personal attention and follow-up with candidates, and adept at matching candidates' needs with Converse University's offerings. The individual will be responsible for developing a plan of action to achieve institutional goals and representing Converse University at off-site events, such as graduate college fairs and on-campus functions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/ NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Goals

  • In collaboration with the Director, Dean, and Vice President, using enrollment data to develop strategic recruitment and enrollment plans serving prospective students
  • Recruit, engage, and enroll a dynamic and diverse incoming class of students through all stages of the enrollment funnel
  • Manage the Strategic Enrollment Plan for Graduate Admissions in collaboration with the Dean of the Graduate School and Graduate Program Directors
  • Achieve goals set by the Director of Admission, Dean of the Graduate School, and Vice President for Enrollment Management
  • Manage the recruitment of students in designated regions and/or candidacies
  • Prepare and deliver reports to the Director of Admission, Dean of the Graduate School, and Vice President for Enrollment Management as required

Outreach Recruitment (50%)

  • Responsible for the research and assignment of all recruitment activities within their territory and/or designated student populations for which they're responsible
  • Manage all aspects of recruitment travel, including scheduling, transportation, and accommodations per university-wide travel policies
  • Attend graduate college fairs and complete a report for each fair
  • Schedule private visits to selected four-year institutions and businesses and complete a report for each visit in the CRM (Slate)
  • Responsible for the preparation to ensure all components are completed for each application in CRM for graduate students before the first read of faculty
  • Participate in virtual meetings with prospective students and attend virtual events hosted by individual schools or organizations.
  • Host receptions for school counselors, businesses, school administrators, and prospective students in targeted areas
  • Attend alumni events in the recruitment region

Visitor Management (35%)

  • Attend all campus preview days/admissions events
  • Interview and tour families who visit the campus as needed
  • Plan and execute designated sessions at on-campus events as needed
  • Plan and execute the MMFT Interview Days (On-Campus & UCG)
  • Serve as an interviewer at Scholars Day as needed
  • Work Saturdays during the on-call season

Communication (10%)

  • Establish, develop, and maintain communication throughout the university admission process with prospective students, families, school counselors, businesses, and educational community partners through phone, email, direct mail, interviews, presentations, and social media
  • Assist in the development and implementation of strategic communication for admissions counselors in collaboration with the Assistant Director of Admissions Marketing and Communications
  • Make daily personal contact with prospective students through the mail, email, and telephone and report each contact in Slate
  • Provide extensive tele-counseling at night
  • Build relationships with school counselors and alumni in the designated recruitment area
  • Facilitate contact between prospective students and faculty/staff/current students/alumni

Financial Planning (10%)

  • Follow up with in-depth phone calls to offer additional counseling during the critical Financial Planning season
  • Attend University-hosted Financial Aid and Planning events as needed
  • Working alongside the Assistant Director for Admissions Operations to create and maintain an informative Financial Planning communication flow for all graduate students
  • Schedule and attend one-on-one Financial Planning meetings with students to answer questions regarding the FAFSA, Financial Planning, and Loans

Other Responsibilities (10%)

  • Responsible for the recruitment of students from the assigned territory
  • All other reasonable duties assigned by the Director of Admissions
  • Adhere to Converse University Conference and NCAA policies and procedures
  • Compliance with the University's Service Expectations

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required
  • Valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Three to four years of admissions experience preferred
  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university preferred

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Three to four years of admissions experience preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; experience with using a CRM preferred
  • Ability to exhibit strong customer service skills for all levels of University constituencies and members of the public
  • Ability to take appropriate steps to promote and sustain effective working relationships within a diverse multicultural environment
  • Ability to speak one-on-one and with small and large groups
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, as well as travel during designated times of the year

GUIDELINES AND SUPERVISION: The Graduate Admissions Counselor will be responsible for using enrollment data to develop a strategic recruitment and enrollment plan in collaboration with the Director of Admissions, Dean of the Graduate School, and Vice President for Enrollment Management. They will manage the recruitment of students in designated regions and/or candidacies. The Graduate Admissions Counselor will be responsible for the preparation of files for the first-read within the CRM.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS: This position allows the employee to work from the University Center of Greenville up to two days a week.

Work Schedule: The university's operating hours are Monday through Thursday 8am -5pm and Friday 8am through 1pm. This position will occasionally work under flexible hours including nights and weekends during designated times of the year.

Licenses: Valid Driver's License
