Overview

Position provides clinical supervision for all Functional Family staff. Maintains the standards of work excellence in accordance with the scope and practice and standards of care set forth by the appropriate code of ethics per licensure. The therapist will provide, 50% of their time providing, home-based family therapy sessions to clients.

Responsibilities

Key Accountability:Performs comprehensive psychosocial and behavioral assessments, treatment plans and appropriate interventions and therapy for behavioral health illnesses and concerns. Conducts assessment, diagnosis and treatment of the social and emotional factors related to the patient’s illness, need for care, response and adjustment to illness and care and completes appropriate patient-centered plan of care and interventions according to the scope of practice. Provides information and referral services to appropriate individuals and agencies as needs identified. Conducts immediate intervention including supportive counseling to patient/family/significant other in dealing with impact of an emergency. Completes all documentation in the patient record accurately and timely. Provide educational in-services to the community as requested. Consistently utilizes a holistic approach considering psych/social, physical, spiritual, educational, safety and related criteria approach to the age of the patient. Participates in the development of the plan of care and attends department team meetings. Ability to establish a mutually respectful relationship, in which the family is a full partner, empowered to solve their own problems. Ability to intervene decisively, when necessary, to protect family membersAbility to engage families who may not want the service. Ability to work with respect for cultural diversityStrong clinical skills, very good interpersonal/communication skills and ability to work independently, as well as contribute to a teamMaintains current licensure with specific board. Completes all continuing education and follows Ethics Code specific to the discipline.

 

Collaboration and Coordination:Participate in all required trainings and educational activitiesParticipate in department level meetings and huddlesBe responsive to patients in applicable communication modeProvide clinical supervision for practicum students

Clinical Supervision:Provide clinical supervision to provisionally licensed mental health therapistsMaintain documentation of clinical supervisionComplete attestation documents per a provisionally licensed therapist licensure boardBe knowledgeable of the state licensure rules and regulations for all mental health therapists. (i.e. social workers, mental health counselors, and marriage and family therapists)Be a role model for less experienced provisionally licensed therapists

Qualifications

Education: Master’s degree in social work, counseling, education or other relevant human service profession.

Experience: Required Two years’ experience in children and family services. Preferred Two years previous psychotherapy experience in Behavioral Health.

License(s)/Certification(s): Master’s Level Social Worker Required - Master’s Level Independent Social Worker (LISW)Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC)Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)Licensed Psychologist

Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.

Must progress towards Functional Family Therapy certification as a condition of employment Be eligible by the employer’s state requirements to provide supervision to LMSWs and provisionally licensed LMFTs and LMHCs

Iowa Requirements are found in IAC 645-280 and 645-31.

 

Functional Family Therapy Certification Preferred.
