Some careers are just jobs. This one is different. At Pinnacle Family Services, the work you do every day has a real and lasting impact on children and families who need it most.

For over 30 years, we've provided evidence-based therapeutic foster care and behavioral health services to at-risk youth across North Carolina and South Carolina — specializing in serving children who have experienced trauma, loss, abuse, or neglect. Our approach is trauma-informed and relationship-focused, because we know that healing happens through connection.

When you join Pinnacle, you're not just joining an organization — you're joining a community of professionals who show up every day because they genuinely believe in this work.

Pinnacle Family Services is part of Health Connect America, a COA-accredited family of behavioral health brands serving children, families, and adults across nine states. That means you'll have the close-knit culture and mission focus of a team that's been doing this work for decades, backed by the resources, clinical infrastructure, and organizational support to help you do it well. Every program across our network shares the same commitment — compassionate, client-centered care that meets people where they are and walks alongside them toward something better.

Come make a difference and grow with us.

Responsibilities

If you’re passionate about supporting families and strengthening the foster care system, this role was built for you. As a Foster Parent Development Specialist at Health Connect America, you’ll actively recruit, train, and license foster homes—helping ensure children in care have safe, nurturing environments while guiding foster parents toward success. Your work will blend community engagement, education, and compliance to make a meaningful impact on children and families.

What You'll Do

As a Foster Parent Development Specialist, you’ll lead the recruitment, training, and ongoing support of foster families, while ensuring all licensing and compliance requirements are met. Day to day, you can expect to:

  • Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote the foster care program and attract prospective foster parents

  • Conduct outreach through presentations, community events, mailings, and individual meetings to connect with potential applicants

  • Guide prospective foster parents through the application, training, and licensing process, ensuring timely communication and support

  • Deliver orientation and ongoing training to foster parents in accordance with state and organizational standards

  • Conduct licensing activities including home studies, assessments, and recommendations for licensure

  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records and ensure timely submission of all licensing documentation to the state agency

  • Support foster homes through oversight, guidance, and corrective action plans, collaborating with program leadership to maintain quality standards

  • Assist in the development and implementation of behavioral treatment plans and ongoing foster parent education schedules

What to Expect

This role combines community engagement, administrative responsibilities, and direct support to foster families. You’ll work closely with prospective and current foster parents, internal teams, and state agencies to ensure safe, high-quality care. Attention to detail, organization, and strong interpersonal skills are key to success.

You’ll also contribute to the overall growth and quality of the foster care program, supporting Health Connect America’s mission to provide children with stable, nurturing, and well-supported homes.
