POSITION SUMMARY:
The FIND Coach delivers and implements the FIND Coaching program, Filming Interactions to Nurture Development (FIND) (more information about the science of FIND in this link), with fathers of young children. FIND is an evidence-based, strengths-centered coaching program that uses video to support caregivers’ developmentally supportive interactions with their children.
This is a 20-hour-per-week position with a flexible schedule. Availability during typical business hours, as well as some evening and weekends is required to meet program needs. This is a community-based position that requires daily travel throughout King County, primarily based in south King County.
This program is funded until December 31, 2029.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Maintains an assigned caseload of fathers and provides weekly FIND Coaching, in-person in fathers’ homes, while maintaining a flexible schedule that accommodates fathers’ availability and meets FIND Program fidelity requirements.
- Conducts filming sessions with fathers in their homes or other approved community-based locations, or virtually when appropriate, to obtain naturalistic footage of father-child interactions.
- Conducts coaching sessions with fathers. Shares information about developmentally supportive interactions and uses the FIND edited film to provide strengths-based feedback consistent with the FIND model.
- Provides technical support to fathers participating in virtual FIND sessions.
- Develops and maintains positive, strengths-based relationships with fathers, built on equity, inclusiveness, and cultural and linguistic responsiveness.
- Coordinates weekly visit schedules, completes documentation, and maintains consistent engagement throughout each FIND case.
- Achieves and maintains FIND Coach Certification.
- Supports recruitment and engagement of fathers interested in participating in FIND.
- Participates in regular meetings, consultation and trainings as needed.
- Maintains FIND Implementation records (e.g. case tracking, coaching session notes, and other relevant documentation).
- Provides on-the-job training and technical support for new staff members.
- Advocates for the values of a diverse population within the agency and the community.
- Maintains confidentiality of confidential identifiable information (CII), including films of children and fathers, in accordance with IRB and agency standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge and experience in child development, early childhood education, and/or social services.
- Ability to establish positive, strengths-based relationships with fathers and engage in a collaborative coaching relationship, applying family support principles.
- Ability to demonstrate respect for diverse parenting beliefs, experiences, cultures, and approaches to fatherhood.
- Competence in planning, organizing, scheduling, record keeping, and oral and written communications.
- Knowledge of effective communication techniques, conflict resolution skills, and adult learning practices.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and on own with minimal supervision.
- Proficient in MS Office, data entry, and ability to adapt to new technology.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- This is a community-based position. The FIND Coach’s primary daily work location is in fathers’ homes, primarily in south King County, but ability to support north King county too.
- Work is also completed remotely off-site between home visits.
- Visits to participants’ homes may involve exposure to a variety of household conditions, including pets, residual smoke or odors, spills, and other common household conditions. Smoking is not permitted during visits.
- The position requires availability during daytime, evening, and occasional weekend hours based on fathers’ availability.
HYBRID WORK ARRANGEMENTS:
Hybrid work is a benefit of Akin’s flexible workplace but cannot be offered for all positions. Some positions require daily presence in the office. Hybrid work arrangements may be adjusted or rescinded based upon business needs.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard; occasionally to reach, stoop, and kneel.
- Ability to sit on the floor, crouch, or kneel.
- Ability to sit in a car while traveling to fathers’ homes and other service locations.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- BA/BS degree in Early Childhood Education, Social Work, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Bilingual and biliterate in Spanish and English.
- Experience providing direct services to children and families, including families experiencing poverty and/or inequities.
- Ability to provide services in the home, remotely, and in community environments.
- Resides in King County, Washington, or is willing and able to commute daily throughout the service area as needed.
- Access to a reliable, insured vehicle for work-related travel.
- Proof of physical exam within past 12 months (updated every three years).
- One-step Mantoux TB skin test prior to start of employment, unless has written proof of a negative test within past 12 months. For those who have previously tested positive, documented proof of treatment from a doctor or a negative chest x-ray must be provided.
- Proof of MMR vaccine or positive MMR titer.
- A valid driver's license and a favorable driving record, with no more than three violations within the past three years.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Familiarity with the use of a video camera and tablet.
- Experience supporting father engagement.

The target starting pay for this position is $28.74 - $34.48 per hour, typically within the first half of the range. Actual offers will be based on individual qualifications relevant to the role and will not take the applicant’s pay history into account.
The range above allows our employees room for growth during their tenure in the position.
