Family Support Services - Behavior Specialist Assistant

The Family Support Services Behavior Specialist Assistant – In-Home Behavior is responsible to evaluate behavioral issues of people referred to the service from the community, assist with the development, training and implementation of behavior plans with the family and consulting BCBA, complete required documentation, furnish data for review and act as a support to the person and their family as needed. Training curriculum development and presentations on a variety of topics is also included.
Core Responsibilities
- Evaluate behavioral issues of all referred people to In-Home Behavior services, in cooperation with the family and BCBA. This includes initial observation
- Develop and provide initial implementation of behavior plans
- Provide training to the family on implementation of the behavior plan/strategies
- Complete required documentation
- Furnish data for the BCBA to review and provide input on
- Develop training curriculum/presentations regarding current topics of interest in the field.
- Present developed training curriculums to the public for the Education and Training portion of the FSS contract.
- Adhere to mandatory reporting requirements and HIPAA laws
- Ensure compliance with all pertinent government and Agency regulations and operating standards
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in psychology or a related field such as behavior science, social work, child life education, nursing or human development.
- 12-month paid or unpaid experience in a program or setting supporting persons with disabilities.
- Candidates who have completed all but 15 credit hours of the BA degree requirements must show proof of credit completion and complete their graduation requirements within 18 months of being placed into the BSA position.
- Must have a valid NYS Driver’s License
