Position Summary

The Family Support Medical Social Worker is responsible for performing psychosocial assessment and clinical intervention through hospital, home, and center-based visits with families whose infants have been discharged from the NICU, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Primary services include supporting families along a 3-year journey with their medically complex and challenging infants/toddlers, providing education and targeted support for enhancing protective factors for vulnerable infants and families. The social worker will also assist in accessing crisis or other adjunct services, as well as supporting families during specialty medical care appointments, as needed. The Family Support Medical Social Worker is responsible for requirements associated with grant funding, referral liaison work, site visits and presentations within the larger community.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct hospital, home and center-based visits providing psychosocial support, identifying safety factors and strategies and ensuring medical health compliance.
  • Support secure attachment behaviors, address grief and loss issues, model responsive parenting interaction strategies and unconditional regard for parents and increase understanding of child development.
  • Identify indicators of child abuse/neglect, substance abuse, mental status concerns, suicidality, atypical parent or child behaviors and developmental delay; report any suspected child maltreatment.
  • Attend Medical Care Conferences in the NICU, PICU, & MBCH floor as required during the admission process and throughout the (3) year period as warranted.
  • Coordinate monthly’ Resilience in Care Medical Support Group’ & community opportunities for enrolled families and a yearly Parent Panel; compile and document information gathered.
  • Remain current on trends in child abuse/neglect and psychosocial interventions through attendance at relevant workshops, seminars and in-service educational opportunities.
  • Maintain clinical records in accordance with established departmental and Mary Bridge Hospital/MultiCare standards.
  • Serve as Referral Liaison between NICU and the Parenting Partnership Program; include screening referrals to ensure family meets criteria for program enrolment, manage paperwork, assign cases & support ongoing contact to facilitate referrals and ensure program is working at capacity.
  • Develop and maintain effective referral relationships with internal and external care providers and agencies.
  • Conduct and document outcome measures and assessment scores in time frames required for monthly, quarterly and yearly reports for Grant Contract and MB Foundation.
  • Manage and maintain required documentation for grant tracking purposes and program activities using Visit Tracker, spread sheets and PP shared drive.
  • Responsible for additional tasks relevant to successful implementation of the program and grant requirements as deemed appropriate by Supervisor.


Requirements

  • Master’s degree in social work, psychology or counseling.
  •  Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), and/or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
  • Current Washington State Driver’s License.
  • Acceptable driving record which meets the established standards of MultiCare
  • Health System.
  • Experience with home visiting preferred.

Pay and Benefit Expectations

We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $77,480.00 - $111,467.20 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant’s years of experience align.
