Family Services Manager
Child Start, Inc.Child Start is seeking a Family Services Manager to join our team. Experienced professional with a proven track record in planning, directing, and managing the family services component of the Head Start and Early Head Start Programs. Develops family services policies and procedures in alignment with Head Start Performance Standards. Takes the initiative in selecting and retaining high-quality family services staff.
- Serve as a member of the program management team, sharing solutions with colleagues and committed to continuous improvement of all program operations.
- Assist in strategic program planning processes, including establishing calendar, program goals, annual HS/EHS applications (and other funding opportunities, as they arise), PIR data completion, and program self-assessment.
- Maintain a thorough knowledge and understanding of all aspects of the Head Start Performance Standards and related regulations for Family Services and how to monitor and implement them.
- Lead in selection of evidence-based parenting curriculum and training of family services staff in its successful implementation, such that the Head Start program meets or exceeds Head Start Performance Standards.
- Facilitate the onboarding and orientation processes for all new family services staff.
- Plan, organize and implement training events including Head Start and Early Head Start Pre-Service at the beginning of the school year, in-service training during the year, and other training as needed.
- Collaborate to surround family services staff with training, mentoring, encouragement and support necessary to build their skills, meet program expectations, and help families succeed.
- Build connections in the community to recruit staff, families and partners for the program.
- Requires a Bachelor's degree in social work, human development & family science, community psychology or related field. Master's preferred.
- Experience: 3-5 years’ family services, prefer experience with underserved communities; two years’ supervisory experience required.
- Experience with and working knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards and state licensing regulations

- Ability to handle stressful and sensitive situations in a professional manner.
- Ability to determine and prioritize workload while being flexible to emergent/unplanned needs and situations.
- Ability to prioritize demands in order to meet requirements and timelines.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision and maintain a flexible schedule.
- Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) are a plus.
