The Family Placement Supervisor plays a key role in supporting this mission by leading the team that helps individuals achieve homeownership. This position supervises the Family Placement team and oversees the participant journey once they are mortgage ready through home selection and purchase agreement. The Family Placement Supervisor ensures that participants receive excellent customer service and engagement to the closing of their home. Through strong leadership, collaboration, and program oversight, this role helps ensure families are prepared, confident, and supported throughout the homeownership process.

What You’ll Do

Lead & Support the Family Placement Team

  • Supervise, coach, and mentor Family Placement staff, fostering strong performance, growth, and accountability.
  • Set clear expectations, goals, and workflows while leading quarterly and annual performance management.
  • Build a positive, inclusive, and collaborative team culture aligned with Habitat’s mission and values.

Oversee the Home Placement Process

  • Ensure each Habitat home has an identified buyer or placement plan in place.
  • Maintain and apply home selection criteria consistently and equitably.
  • Guide the participant journey from mortgage readiness through home selection, purchase agreement, and closing.
  • Support staff in removing barriers to homeownership and coordinating timely, responsive service.

Coordinate Cross-Departmentally

  • Collaborate with Construction, Mortgage, Finance, Grants, and other Program teams to ensure smooth hand-offs and communication.
  • Participate in bi-weekly coordination meetings and pipeline reviews.
  • Align timelines related to home availability, appraisals, loan closing schedules, and funding sources.

Ensure Quality, Accuracy & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate program data related to mortgages and the homeownership pipeline.
  • Protect Habitat Omaha’s collateral through strong documentation and process adherence.
  • Maintain required certifications and stay current on industry best practices, compliance, and program standards.

Celebrate Milestones & Share Impact

  • Coordinate closings, bell-ringing ceremonies, open houses, and closing celebrations.
  • Ensure family photography and stories are captured and shared with Development and Communications teams.
  • Measure success outcomes, identify opportunities for improvement, and recommend enhancements to owner-occupied programs.

Drive Continuous Improvement

  • Partner with leadership to develop KPIs, improve processes, and integrate program feedback.
  • Anticipate needs, adjust priorities, and contribute to organization-wide best practices.

What You Bring

Experience & Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, business, community relations, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of applicable experience in housing programs, social services, community development, or nonprofit work.
  • 3–5 years of supervisory experience.
  • Familiarity with homeownership processes, mortgages/loans, or compliance (or willingness to learn).
  • ABA  Certification required within 90 days of hire.
  • Bilingual skills preferred.
