About Us:
Kingdom Builders Transitional Housing Program DBA Oakland Dream Center 3 is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing housing and comprehensive support services to individuals re-entering the community after incarceration. Our mission is to facilitate successful reintegration by addressing housing needs, offering employment resources, and fostering community connections. We are committed to reducing recidivism and promoting a just and equitable society.
Position Summary:
The Executive Director (ED) is a dynamic and visionary compassionate leader responsible for the overall strategic, operational, and financial management of the organization. The ED will work closely with the CEO, staff, community partners, and stakeholders to ensure the effective delivery of services and programs that support the re-entry population. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the challenges faced by individuals re-entering society, experience in non-profit management, and a passion for social justice.
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Leadership and Management:
- Provide visionary and strategic leadership to the organization, aligning programs and initiatives with the mission and goals.
- Oversee daily operations, ensuring the effective implementation of programs, services, and initiatives.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of professionals, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with the Board of Directors, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
- Assist in the development and implementation of the strategic vision and direction of the organization.
- Foster a culture of inclusivity, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure alignment of the organization’s mission, goals, and programs with community needs and stakeholders’ expectations.
CEO/Board Relations
- Serve as the primary liaison between the staff and CEO.
- Provide timely and accurate information to the CEO regarding the organization’s operations, performance, and challenges.
- Implement board policies and decisions effectively.
Program Development, Implementation and Management:
- Develop, design, implement, and evaluate programs and services that address the housing and support needs of the re-entry population.
- Ensure programs are evidence-based, culturally competent, responsive to the needs of clients and align with best practices.
- Collaborate with community partners, government agencies, and other stakeholders to enhance service delivery and expand program reach.
- Monitor and report on program outcomes, ensuring continuous quality improvement.
- Adapt programs to meet changing needs and emerging trends in re-entry services.
Staff Leadership and Human Resources
- Recruit, hire, train, and retain a high-performing team.
- Provide ongoing supervision, coaching, and professional development for staff.
- Conduct performance evaluations and implement improvement plans when necessary.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive work environment.
- Develop and implement HR policies and procedures in compliance with legal requirements.
Financial Management and Fundraising:
- Oversee the financial health of the organization, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Assist in the development and implementation of fundraising strategies to secure funding from diverse sources, including grants, donations, and partnerships.
- Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and reporting requirements.
- Develop and oversee the organization’s budget, ensuring financial sustainability.
- Monitor financial performance and manage resources efficiently.
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting to the CEO.
- Oversee annual audits and ensure compliance with all financial regulations.
- Develop and implement sound financial policies and practices.
Advocacy and Community Engagement:
- Serve as the primary spokesperson and advocate for the organization, representing its mission and programs to the public, media, and policymakers.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with community leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders to advance the organization’s mission.
- Promote public awareness and understanding of the challenges faced by the re-entry population and the importance of supportive housing.
Operational Excellence:
- Implement and oversee policies and procedures to ensure organizational efficiency and effectiveness.
- Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and accreditation requirements.
- Utilize data and performance metrics to monitor program outcomes and drive continuous improvement.
Community Relations and Advocacy
- Act as the primary spokesperson for the organization, representing its mission and programs to the public, media, and policymakers.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with community leaders, government officials, and partner organizations.
- Advocate for policies and practices that support the re-entry population and address systemic barriers.
- Engage in public speaking and community outreach to raise awareness of re-entry issues.
Compliance and Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and accreditation requirements.
- Develop and implement risk management policies and procedures.
- Oversee the organization’s safety and security protocols.
- Manage contracts and agreements with service providers, partners, and funders.
Data Management and Reporting
- Implement robust data collection and management systems to track program performance and outcomes.
- Analyze data to inform program improvements and strategic decision-making.
- Prepare and present comprehensive reports to the board, funders, and stakeholders.
- Ensure data privacy and security in accordance with legal and ethical standards.
Strategic Planning
- Lead the development and execution of the organization’s strategic plan.
- Conduct regular assessments of community needs and organizational performance.
- Identify and pursue opportunities for growth and innovation.
- Engage stakeholders in the strategic planning process to ensure broad input and support.
Client and Community Services
- Ensure that services are client-centered, trauma-informed, and culturally competent.
- Develop partnerships with other service providers to offer comprehensive support to clients.
- Address and resolve client grievances and issues promptly and effectively.
- Promote client engagement and empowerment through participatory program design and evaluation.
Professional Development and Networking
- Stay current with trends and best practices in re-entry services and non-profit management.
- Participate in professional organizations and networks.
- Pursue ongoing education and training opportunities.
- Foster partnerships with academic institutions for research and internships.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Public Administration, Non-Profit Management, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in non-profit management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Demonstrated experience working with the re-entry population or other marginalized communities.
- Proven track record of successful fundraising and financial management.
- Strong strategic planning, organizational, and project management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and public speaking skills.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
