Total Talent Management – Campus Recruitment, has an outstanding opportunity for an Employment Specialist to join our team. 

About this Opportunity 

Reporting to the Director, Total Talent Management – Recruitment, the Employment Specialist is responsible for applying deep knowledge of HR policy and practice to hire highly qualified candidates. They collaborate daily with HR partners and hiring managers to design and implement efficient, inclusive and compliant selection and hiring processes in a fast-paced, high-volume, and detail-oriented work environment characterized by an emphasis on flexibility and customer service.  

Key Responsibilities 

The Employment Specialist’s responsibilities fall into the three categories listed below. We’ve indicated the typical time devoted to each and key responsibilities for each area of work. 

Employment processing (65%)  

  • Provide prompt consultation, technical support, and referrals to clients, prioritizing a variable workflow of job requisitions in a high-volume and fast-paced work environment.  

  • Apply best practices to screen job applicants and forward pools of highly qualified candidates to hiring departments.  

  • Identify opportunities to improve the UW hiring process for applicants, managers, HR partners and the recruitment team.  

Consultation, training, and service (25%)  

  • Provide consultation, coaching, and training to applicants, HR partners, hiring managers, UWHR colleagues and community partners. Develop new curriculum and training approaches when needed.  

  • Assist applicants and candidates in completing their UW job applications and understanding UW employment policies and practices.  

  • Advise and assist hiring managers in developing interview questions and additional candidate assessment criteria.  

Other responsibilities (10%)  

  • Maintain and apply in-depth knowledge of legislative, regulatory and labor agreement requirements that impact recruitment, screening, candidate selection and hiring, including Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and affirmative action guidelines and laws, such as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). 

  • Participate in departmental, team and university training and change management efforts. 

  • Cultivate excellence in UW Human Resources professional competencies in self and teammates.  

  • Other duties as assigned.  

Required Qualifications

Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration. 

Minimum Qualifications 

Applicants who do not meet these qualifications WILL NOT be forwarded to the Hiring Manager. 

  • Bachelor's degree in a field that applies policy or research to professional practice, such as business, education, public policy, or social work. Full-time work experience in a related field may substitute year-for-year toward meeting the degree requirement.  

  • 2 - 3 years of professional human resources experience that includes recruitment or sourcing responsibilities.  

Additional Qualifications 

  • Experience implementing policies and practices to support inclusive and equitable hiring or HR services.  

  • Demonstrated success working in an environment that requires excellent customer service skills in a high-volume or fast-paced organization.  

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office functions and demonstrated ability to learn new technologies.  

  • Demonstrated experience identifying and addressing opportunities to improve administrative or customer service processes.  

Compensation, Benefits and Position Details

Pay Range Minimum:

$66,000.00 annual

Pay Range Maximum:

$75,600.00 annual
