Educational Outreach Coordinator

Rolland Center for Lincoln Research | Allen County Public Library

Inspire the next generation through history.

Do you love helping students make meaningful connections with the past? Are you the kind of educator who brings history to life through stories, artifacts, and primary sources? If so, Allen County Public Library has an exciting opportunity to join one of the nation's premier Lincoln collections.

The Rolland Center for Lincoln Research is seeking an Educational Outreach Coordinator to build meaningful partnerships with K–12 schools, develop engaging educational resources, and introduce students and educators to the remarkable Lincoln Financial Foundation Collection. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced educator to extend your impact beyond a single classroom and inspire learners throughout northeast Indiana.

What You'll Do

As the Educational Outreach Coordinator, you'll serve as the bridge between our extraordinary historical collections and the classrooms that can benefit from them. In this role, you will:

  • Build and strengthen relationships with K–12 schools throughout Allen County and surrounding communities.
  • Design engaging lessons, curriculum materials, and primary source guides aligned with educational needs.
  • Lead memorable tours of the Rolland Center for Lincoln Research, both in person and virtually.
  • Create exhibits and presentations that bring Abraham Lincoln, the Civil War, and American history to life.
  • Develop innovative educational programming that encourages inquiry, critical thinking, and historical discovery.
  • Provide outstanding customer service and research assistance to visitors using the Rolland Center.
  • Collaborate with librarians and Special Collections staff to continually improve educational offerings and measure their impact.

Who You Are

You are an enthusiastic educator who believes history is best experienced, not simply memorized. You enjoy building partnerships, creating engaging learning experiences, and presenting to audiences of all ages. You are equally comfortable planning curriculum, speaking to a classroom of fourth graders, collaborating with teachers, or giving a virtual presentation.

You value creativity, curiosity, and lifelong learning, and you're excited by the opportunity to work with one of the country's most significant collections dedicated to Abraham Lincoln.

Qualifications

We're looking for candidates with:

  • A bachelor's degree in Education, History, Museum Studies, or a related field.
  • Experience developing curriculum or educational programming for K–12 learners.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • Experience creating engaging instructional materials.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects.
  • A passion for history, education, and public service.

A valid driver's license is required. Indiana Public Librarian Certification (LC5) must be obtained within three years of hire.
