Overview:

Sentara Health Corporate Office is hiring an Education Specialist - Inpatient Case Management to support regional Inpatient Case Management Teams!

Status: Full-Time, permanent position (40 hours)

Standard working hours: 8am to 5pm EST M-F. No major holidays. May work on weekends as needed.

Location: This is an onsite position with time split between two Sentara locations:

  • 2–4 days per week at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital (SNGH), Norfolk, VA

  • 1–2 days per week at Sentara Park 1330, Virginia Beach, VA

Job responsibilities:

The Education Specialist - Inpatient Case Management supports the orientation and ongoing preceptorship of all new staff, managers, residents, medical staff and physician advisors. Assists with the coordination of educational classes, to include medical necessity and technology as well as in services to obtain knowledge, maintain case management certification and stay current on topics impacting care coordination initiatives across the continuum. Follows up with the development and revisions of relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and job aids.

Education:

  • N-4YR - RN-Bachelor's Level Degree REQUIRED

Certification/Licensure:

  • Registered Nurse License (RN) - Nursing License in VA or NC or Compact/Multi-State License

  • Certification in Case Management (ACM, CCM, CCCTM or RN-BC) required. If not certified, certification must be completed within one year of hire.

Experience:

  • 3 years experience in Acute Care REQUIRED

  • 1 year experience in Training REQUIRED

  • 3 years experience in Case Management REQUIRED

  • 1 year experience as an Educator REQUIRED
