Description

Girls Inc. of Greater Santa Barbara inspires all girls to be strong, smart, and bold. Through evidence-based programs led by trained mentoring professionals, we equip girls with the confidence, skills, and knowledge to navigate gender, economic, and social barriers and grow up healthy, educated, and independent. With programming across school sites and on our centrally located 5-acre campus, we are expanding our reach and deepening our impact throughout Santa Barbara County.

 The Director of Programs & Community Impact is a senior leadership role that unites day-to-day program excellence with long-range community impact strategy. This leader ensures Girls Inc. programs are operationally strong, data-informed, and deeply connected to the schools, families, and partners we serve across Santa Barbara County.


The ideal candidate is both a skilled program leader and a strategic relationship builder — someone who can inspire and develop staff, translate data into action, and build the community partnerships that expand access and deepen impact for girls.

Reports to: Executive Director

Supervises: Center Director (Elementary Programs), Teen Program Manager, and (eventually) Gymnastics leadership. 


Works closely with: Executive Director, Program Leaders, Director of Development, Program Operations Manager, Operations and Advancement Specialist.

  • Schedule: Monday–Friday (occasional evenings or weekends as needed)

Requirements


Program Operations & Leadership

• Supervise and coach program management staff; support their professional development and their ability to lead their teams with impact.

• Oversee program operations across multiple program sites, ensuring outstanding delivery to the youth and families we serve.

• Develop and implement operational strategies aligned with the organization’s mission, vision, and financial goals.

• Design and administer comprehensive training for program staff; support problem-solving and collaboration at every level.

• Support capacity-building, program enrollment growth, and expansion into new communities and school sites.

• Ensure full compliance with Community Care licensing requirements, quality assurance assessments, and program evaluations.

• Manage program budgets with fiscal responsibility and judicious resource allocation.

• Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement across all program staff.


Impact Strategy & Data Leadership

• Lead the organization’s impact strategy, ensuring programs are aligned with Girls Inc. outcomes and strategic priorities, and responsive to community needs.

• Oversee systems for tracking participation, dosage, outcomes, and demographic data across all program sites.

• Collaborate with program leaders to ensure accurate, timely data collection across platforms (e.g., Compass 360, internal dashboards).

• Analyze data to identify trends, growth opportunities, and areas for program improvement.

• Translate data into clear, actionable insights for internal teams, leadership, board members, and external stakeholders.

• Support development of dashboards and reports that communicate organizational reach, impact, and progress toward strategic goals.

• Establish and monitor key performance indicators related to reach, retention, engagement, and outcomes.


Community Partnerships & Strategic Growth

• Cultivate and steward strategic partnerships with schools, districts, nonprofits, public agencies, and community-based organizations.

• Identify partnership opportunities that expand access to Girls Inc. programming and deepen impact for girls and families.

• Serve as a key external ambassador for Girls Inc., representing the organization in collaborative initiatives and community forums.

• Ensure partnerships are well-coordinated, mutually beneficial, and aligned with mission and organizational capacity.


Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Collaborate with the Executive Director and leadership team on strategic planning and organizational priorities.

• Partner with the Development team to provide data, stories, and outcomes for grants, reports, and external communications.

• Contribute to board reports and presentations related to program reach and outcomes.



Required

• 4+ years’ experience working with youth in a structured educational or program setting.

• 4+ years’ experience supervising staff.

• Bachelor’s degree in education, child development, social work, public policy, nonprofit management, or related field.

• 12 college-level units in early childhood education, sociology, psychology, art, music, dance, drama, recreation, or education.

• Demonstrated experience with data systems, program evaluation, and outcomes measurement.

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and communicate data clearly to diverse audiences.

• Experience building and managing strategic partnerships across diverse stakeholders.

• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.

• Ability to pass criminal background check and pre-employment physical and drug screening.

• Vaccinations as required by State Law (TB, Pertussis, Measles)

• Clean driving record and ability to drive the organization’s Class C vehicles preferred.


Preferred

• Master’s degree in a related field.

• Familiarity with Girls Inc. programming or similar outcomes-based models.

• Experience with grant reporting and outcome measurement.

• Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred.


Hours and Work Schedule

Full-Time Exempt. Monday–Friday, 40+ hours per week. Must be available during program operation hours, which vary by season. Some evening and weekend hours required.
