Salary: $100,000 annually ($8,333.33 per month)


Are you an experienced guardianship or human services leader who values consistency, sound judgment, and person-centered practice? If so, this role offers the opportunity to help lead OPG's guardianship service delivery model and shape how the agency supports adults under its care.


The Colorado Office of Public Guardianship is seeking its next Director of Guardian Services. In this role, you will provide program-level leadership for guardianship services, supervise Senior Guardians, and help ensure services are delivered consistently, ethically, and in alignment with statute, court expectations, and agency standards.


You will work closely with the Deputy Director and Executive Director to support long-term program quality and sustainability, while helping guide work that directly affects the lives of vulnerable adults across Colorado. The role requires strong operational leadership, sound judgment, and the ability to navigate complex and sensitive guardianship matters with professionalism and care.


The Agency: Colorado Office of Public Guardianship

OPG is an independent state office established to provide guardianship services for adults who have no other suitable decision maker and who meet statutory eligibility requirements. The office's work centers on person-centered guardianship practice, sound decision making, and accountability to the individuals it serves.


The office's effectiveness depends on consistent practice, strong supervision, and public trust.


Position Overview

The Director of Guardian Services serves as a key program-level leader within OPG and reports to the Deputy Director. In this role, you will supervise Senior Guardians, oversee service delivery practices, and support consistency and quality across the guardianship program.


Key areas of responsibility include:


  • Guardianship program leadership and oversight
  • Supervision of Senior Guardians
  • Workload and caseload monitoring
  • Complex and high-risk case guidance
  • Policy and practice standard development
  • Court, provider, and stakeholder relations
  • Program planning and budget input

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must clearly demonstrate the following qualifications in their application materials:

  • Nine (9) years of directly related experience in human services, guardianship, case management, legal services, healthcare, public administration, or a closely related field, including progressively responsible program leadership and supervision of professional staff


OR


  • A bachelor's degree in social work, human services, psychology, sociology, public administration, business administration, legal studies, or a related field, and five (5) years of directly related experience as described above, including progressively responsible program leadership and supervision of professional staff


Preferred Qualifications

You will stand out if you possess:

  • Certification from the Center for Guardianship Certification (CGC) at the National Certified Guardian (NCG) or Master Guardian level
  • Experience supervising supervisors, leads, or senior-level staff
  • Experience overseeing guardianship, case management, adult protective services, disability services, behavioral health, aging services, or similar human services programs
  • Experience working with courts, healthcare systems, public benefits, and community-based service providers
  • Experience developing or implementing program policies, procedures, quality assurance tools, or practice standards


Work Environment

This is a hybrid position based in Greenwood Village, Colorado. Periodic statewide travel is required.


The role requires sound judgment, professionalism, and the ability to respond thoughtfully to complex or sensitive guardianship matters while supporting the program's long-term consistency and quality.
