We are offering an exciting leadership opportunity for an internal candidate to join our Senior Leadership Team as Director of Clinical Programs. This position is anticipated to provide strategic direction and oversight for the following programs: Foster Care Services, Transitional Housing Program (THP), Wraparound, CVA, and Independent Living Program (ILP). The expected start date for this role is July 1, 2026.


JOB SUMMARY 

The Director of Clinical Programs is a senior leadership position responsible for providing strategic direction and oversight for treatment and/or placement programs. The position involves the development and implementation of processes and procedures that will ensure compliance with contractual and regulatory standards. The Director will be responsible for developing strategic plans, managing budgets, supervising program staff, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to achieve program objectives. In addition, the Director will ensure the clinical teams have the resources they need to deliver high quality services while driving innovation for the future growth of the organization. 


Location: Hybrid position, San Luis Obispo Office Assignment 

FLSA: Exempt/Full-Time


RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Develop and implement strategic plans for clinical programs in alignment with organizational goals and objectivesIdentify gaps in services and opportunities for program development. 
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with program operations, including legal, ethical, and clinical risks. Ensure compliance with regulations, accreditation requirements, and contractual obligations related to program operations and service delivery. 
  • Manage recruitment, provide clinical oversight and supervision of program staff, including clinicians, support staff, and other associated partners. 
  • Facilitate training and professional development opportunities for program staff, ensuring the delivery of high-quality services in accordance with best practices and standards of care. 
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of program services.
  • Monitor program outcomes and performance metricsutilizing data to evaluate program effectiveness and make informed decisions for improvement. 
  • Collaborate with finance and manage program budgets, allocating resources effectively to support program activities and priorities. Take corrective actions as needed to ensure financial sustainability. 
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for the program. Collaborate with other departments and programs within the organization to optimize resources, streamline processes, and enhance program integration and coordination. 
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with external organizations, funders, agencies, and advocacy groups to support the needs of program participants, both internally within the organization and externally in the broader community. 
  • Identify and utilize resources to stay informed and keep current on relevant policy developments and legislative initiatives related to the program’s mission and goals.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE 

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology or a related field 
  • Current active and unrestricted California license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Marriage Family Therapist, Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, or Psychologist  
  • Minimum of four (4) years of related professional experience, including supporting staff in a supervisory role is required 
  • Direct experience and knowledge of Behavioral Health and Social Services Core Practices in settings, such as outpatient clinics, facilities, and/or community-based organizations  
  • Experience in program design, implementation, strategic planning, budget management, and team leadership
  • Must be computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and knowledge of database and reporting tools
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and interpersonal)
  • Excellent time management, organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality with sensitive information 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities
  • Must be able to safely operate a motor vehicle during daytime and nighttime hours.
  • Must be able to drive safely in various weather and lighting conditions.
