Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY


Provides direct supervision to all members of the Inpatient Clinical Services Department and Case
Management Department. Assist in the development and implementation of activities to carry out the
organizational objectives as to the provision of patient care services, attainment of established financial
and operational goals, and participation in promotion of community mental health. Develops and oversees
the implementation of programs on each unit.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Develops short and long range management and organization plans to define responsibilities
and business activities consistent with established goals and objectives. Assists in developing
annual budgets and management plans.
2. Oversees professional service contracts. Adheres to corporate human resource policy,
recommending changes as needed.
3. Functions as liaison between families, referral sources, agencies, schools, and the hospital
when conflicts arise.
4. Establishes and maintains an atmosphere of mutual trust and support. Recruits, orients and
supervises the therapist staff in all aspects of their position. This includes planning, directing
and evaluating their work and taking corrective action when necessary as dictated by theemployee personnel manual. Increases staff productivity and growth through professional
role modeling and expectations. Influences staff toward achievement of goals.

5. Assigns or causes to be assigned a qualified therapist who will provide treatment to all
individuals admitted to the hospital.
6. Insures quality and timely documentation and communication with referring therapists,
monitors and consults in the implementation and completion of social histories, treatment
plans, discharge planning, treatment team meetings, individual, family and group therapy,
psychological assessments and the documentation of these.
7. Clinical Responsibilities:
a. Assist the hospital in providing coverage for therapists due to vacation, sick leave or
training.
b. Assist in the coverage of group therapies when conflicts arise.
c. Assist in providing coverage for cases as needed due to census fluctuations.
8. Participates as a consultant to the governing board and acts as liaison between the governing
board, medical staff, and clinics. Establishes and attends meetings to provide pertinent
information related to clinical services and the provisions of quality health care.
9. Prepares and presents operational and financial reports as required in regularly scheduled
meetings and committees.
10. Responsible for maintaining accreditation standards of the JCAHO, Medicare, Medicaid and
any other pertinent organization.
11. Assists in the operations of physical facilities and property to retain a good state of repair and
operating condition.
12. Shall review charts to determine appropriateness of psychological, histories, treatment
planning and other documentation.
13. Shall provide and review Policy and Procedure manuals, so that all outpatient programs are
running under congruent expectations. Will develop written policies and procedures and assure their implementation for congruent documentation. Shall provide congruent documentation forms to all clinicians.
14. Shall attempt to have all clinical services for Office of Inspector General (OIG) as well as
Joint Commission (JCAHO) and in compliance with all State and Federal Regulations.
15. Will oversee all outpatient programs, including Medication Management, Intensive
Outpatient Programs, Partial Hospitalization Programs and Traditional Outpatient.
16. All other assigned duties and responsibilities.
17. Will adhere to all safety policies and safe work practices.
18. Will attend hospital safety trainings.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS


Education: Minimum of a Licensed Clinical in Social Work (LCSW) or PhD. in Psychology from an
accredited university and current licensure or certification by the appropriate Professional Board in the
Commonwealth of Kentucky. Additional experience in administration/supervision within the Healthcare
field is necessary.


Knowledge Required: Proven ability in the following areas: Supervision of personnel, training of
personnel, record management, regulatory compliance, program development, team building skills,
development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures, development of positive
employee relations program and negotiating contracts with various agencies. Two years experience in
child and adolescent psychology along with a working knowledge of psychosocial problems and
treatment. Must have a thorough knowledge of standards and regulations of hospital and laws applicable
to mental health treatment.
