My Life My Choice, a survivor-led program of the Justice Resource Institute working to end the commercial sexual exploitation of children is looking for a Development Manager to join their team!

My Life My Choice, a program of the Justice Resource Institute, provides survivor-led solutions aimed at ending the commercial sexual exploitation of children (CSEC). My Life My Choice offers survivor mentoring, intensive case management, prevention education, and group work to young people of all genders impacted by CSEC across Eastern Massachusetts. Throughout the U.S., My Life My Choice offers evidence-based prevention and intervention models for replication, professional training, consultation, and advocacy. 

The Development Manager is a key player in helping My Life My Choice achieve its goals through a comprehensive fundraising and stewardship strategy aimed at building and maintaining a strong base of financial support. Using both innovative and tried and true fund development strategies, the Development Manager works to increase community support and revenue to further the mission of My Life My Choice.

Schedule: This position has the option to work hybrid, but is based out the My Life My Choice office in Boston, MA. 

Compensation 

The pay range for this position is $60,000 to $78,000 per year. The listed range reflects what we reasonably and in good faith expect to pay for this role at the time of posting the position. The actual compensation an employee is offered may vary based on several factors such as experience, education, licensure, certifications and qualifications.  This range may be modified in the future. 

AS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER, YOU WILL:

  • Lead the design and implementation of an effective annual development strategy that is aligned with our strategic plan and centered around increasing our donor network and ensuring current and future program and budgetary needs are met
  • Oversee existing development components including an Annual Appeal, signature gala, peer to peer fundraising, and smaller events strategy, as well as explore new opportunities.
  • Support leadership staff in meeting with donors and engaging in the development strategy.
  • Effectively work to define and expand My Life My Choice’s major gifts efforts and successfully manages a portfolio of major gifts prospects to attract personal and family leadership support for the organization.
  • Effectively ensure best practices and innovative approaches in the areas of Development, constituent engagement, and Board management.
  • Maintain documents, files, and accurate entry of donor and gift information. Handle follow-up and acknowledgements/thank you letters for donors in assigned portfolio.
  • Work with Communications staff to develop marketing materials to support revenue development campaigns (including annual appeal letters, donation thank you cards/receipts, campaign reports, emails, etc.).
  • Collaboratively recruit, train, and/or supervise interns and volunteers.
  • Actively collaborate with all MLMC departments to maximize success; leveraging opportunities to expand our community.
  • Ensure compliance with MLMC policies, including employment, risk management, event and cash handling, data management, and financial controls.

Requirements:

  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree preferred.
  • 3–5 years of fundraising, development, or advancement experience with demonstrated success in donor relations, development strategy, major gifts, and event planning and fundraising.
  • Strong writing, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience managing multiple projects and working collaboratively with leadership, boards, and external partners.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint) and fundraising databases such as Salesforce.
  • Strong mission-driven focus, with a personal commitment to the vision and core values of MLMC.
  • Proven and consistent track record of increasing revenues by designing and implementing best practice fundraising initiatives and programs.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Outstanding customer service, detail-orientation and donor relations skills.
  • Possess a high level of integrity and ability to handle confidential situations without compromise.
  • Must be able to evaluate problems accurately and display good, sound judgment.
  • Flexibility to adapt to the changing needs of a growing organization.
  • Positive attitude and belief in the hope of recovery from commercial sexual exploitation for youth of all genders.
