JOB SUMMARY

The Deputy Director of Clinical Practices leads and oversees the development, implementation, evaluation, and advancement of OCHN's clinical best practices. This role ensures high-quality, person-centered behavioral health services by applying evidence-based standards, clinical policies, quality improvement priorities, and utilization data across the organization and provider network. The Deputy Director supervises, coaches, and supports assigned clinical teams, including the Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Consultants and the Assessment Center Team, which consists of Diagnosticians, Autism Specialists, and reception staff. In collaboration with the Deputy Director of Integrated Care and organizational partners, this position assesses clinical trends, builds workforce capacity, supports compliance and accreditation, and leads clinical service and practice improvement initiatives aligned with OCHN priorities.

Essential Functions

  • Lead clinical best-practice initiatives and support utilization management activities that advance organizational and contract objectives.
  • Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of clinical policies, protocols, practice guidelines, and quality improvement activities.
  • Provide supervision, coaching, performance management, and professional development for assigned clinical leaders and staff.
  • Provide operational and clinical oversight for the Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Consultants and Assessment Center Team, including Diagnosticians, Autism Specialists, and reception staff.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support clinical training, workforce development, and practice improvement efforts.
  • Evaluate clinical and provider performance, monitor quality and contract requirements within assigned areas, and recommend corrective actions or recognition based on outcomes and quality measures.
  • Analyze clinical, quality, and utilization data to identify trends, improve performance, and support strategic decision-making.
  • Co-lead sentinel event reviews and provide clinical expertise to credentialing, quality, and compliance activities.
  • Resolve clinical provider and system-level issues, including complaints, disputes, appeals, and performance concerns within assigned scope.
  • Collaborate across departments and with external partners on local, state, and federal initiatives impacting clinical practice and service delivery.
  • Support development and monitoring of assigned departmental budgets, contracts, grants, and expenditures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

· Master's degree or higher in Psychology, Social Work, or Counseling.

Training Requirements (licenses, programs, or certificates):

· State of Michigan licensure as a Psychologist (LLP), Social Worker (LMSW), or Counselor (LPC).

Experience Requirements:

· Minimum of five (5) years of relevant clinical experience.

· Leadership experience in a managerial or supervisory role in the public or private sector is preferred.

· Departmental leadership or director-level experience required.

 Preferred Experience:

  • PIHP/CMHSP
  • Medicaid managed care
  • Behavioral health administration
  • Integrated physical/behavioral healthcare
  • NCQA / CARF

Knowledge Requirements:

· Michigan Mental Health Code

· Medicaid rules and regulations

· Michigan Provider Manual

· Community Mental Health service delivery system

· Integrated healthcare practices

· Working knowledge of PIHP and CMHSP

· Title 42 of the Code of Federal Regulations

Additional Information

  • Must have available means of transportation to and from OCHN and for required offsite meetings or site visits.
  • Must be available for meetings and events which may occur outside of standard office hours.
  • Work performed primarily in an office environment.
  • Hybrid (onsite/remote) work schedule available.
