Dental Director

- Current valid State of Georgia Dental license
- Minimum of 2 years experience in a clinical setting.
- Transportation and valid Georgia driver's license
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and management skills
- Physically able to work in a fast paced environment
- Working knowledge of the diagnosis and treatment of dental and oral diseases.
- Working knowledge of the principles, standard practice methods and techniques of dentistry.
- Working knowledge of preventative dentistry and educational methodologies utilized in prevention.
- Skilled in oral operative techniques and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients and staff.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and institutional regulations and guidelines for the provision of dental outpatient services.
- Ability to establish and maintain relationships with the dental/medical community
- Ability to establish and maintain professional relationship with patients
- Ability to travel
- Ability to provide training and educational seminars/sessions
- Previous experience in clinical setting
- Non-profit or public health experience preferred.
Position Summary:
The Dental Director is responsible for the clinical management of the Center's dental clinic and its related services. This is a highly responsible position involving a combination of clinical and administrative responsibilities that requires a great deal of dental skill and autonomous decision-making. In the clinical role, the Dental Director provides primary dental care to eligible patients, managing medications, treatments, and referrals for other services as needed and as governed by approved dental protocols. This provision of care is coordinated with the Center's clinical staff and social workers. In the administrative role, the Dental Director is responsible for the clinical/ administrative management of the dental clinic including quality assurance and the management of all clinically related patient matters and management of paid and volunteer clinical personnel.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Clinical:
- Provides quality Dental care to the patient population of the clinic.
- Directs patient follow-up with appropriate personnel.
- Collaborates with other Dental care providers in the clinic setting.
- Administrative:
- Works with the Chief Operations Officer in the seamless operation of the Dental Center and provides support services in areas of:
- Data collection and analysis
- Quality assurance for clinic
- Works with the Executive and Financial Directors in the development of the Dental Center's annual budget.
- Works with clinical, social work and operations staff in the identification of Shelter Dental health needs. Takes a proactive view of these areas to develop Shelter / Health Center programs.
- Supervisory:
- Provides direct supervision for all Dental Center staff members.
- Provides direct supervision and mentorship for dental students, through agreement with local agencies/educational institutions.
- Interviews, screens, and selects new staff members.
- Writes and/or directs policies/procedures/protocols guiding and directing dental practice.
- Writes and presents on an annual basis, performance evaluations for all dental staff.
- Manages disciplinary process for all dental staff in accordance with J.C. Lewis Primary Health Care Center, Inc. policies.
- Maintains supervisory responsibility for adequacy/safety/sterility of equipment, supplies, etc. for use in the Dental Center.
- Manages processes to ensure accuracy and confidentiality of all records.
- Fosters growth and development of management and leadership skills among team members.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain licensure, to include the procurement of appropriate CMEs
- Represent the agency on community committees involving healthcare issues, as deemed necessary
- Participate in the emergency call system.
- Participate in agency meetings, in-service trainings and workshops as deemed appropriate
- All other duties as assigned
