Summary of position/Objective:


The Day Program Manager primary responsibility is to manage the Day Program serving people with developmental disabilities ensuring compliance with all State and Federal guidelines.  

The Day Program Manager will manage all aspects related to the ongoing implementation of the Human Service Program.  This includes but is not limited to the quality assurance functions daily on all support paperwork and documentation to remain compliant with standards set by Iowa Code, the Social Security Administration, Managed Care Organizations, Iowa Medicaid Enterprises, and To The Rescue Policies.

The ideal candidate is skilled in conflict management, has extensive leadership experience, and is passionate about making the program successful.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to and uphold To The Rescue’s values and policies.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with referral agencies and funders.

  • Identify and maintain current information about community resources that may benefit program participants.

  • Monitor and control expenses and ensure efficiency in services, including billable hours and client funding.

  • Identify safety concerns and implement good safety practices.

  • Always represent To The Rescue in a positive and professional manner to all clients, coworkers, families and the public.

  • Make sure all required training is completed in a timely manner.

  • Function effectively as a member of the Human Services Team by developing goals and objectives to maximize the independence, growth, and quality of life for our members.

  • Monitors member performance on goals and prepares progress reports and other verbal or written reports.

  • Maintains records and prepares reports on services provided.

  • Promote and adhere to all To The Rescue safety practices and policies.

  • Responsible for staff training and development.

  • Ensures prompt and effective communication by the Supervisor of the department.

  • Performs additional duties as assigned. 


Competencies/Qualifications/Education:

  • Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.

  • Have knowledge of auditing and monitoring procedures.

  • Have working knowledge of applicable laws and regulations affecting Iowa and Colorado.

  • Have working knowledge of privacy laws and regulations.  

  • Must possess strong leadership skills.

  • Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with staff and provide instruction and direction to employees on maintaining compliance with policies, rules and procedures.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office that includes Word, Excel, and the ability to learn computer programs for scheduling and timekeeping. 

  • Ability to respond well under pressure. 

  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree in human services, social work or related field and/or four or more years of related experience. 

Certificates/Licenses/Registration:

The employee must provide and maintain a valid driver's license for the entire duration of their employment and be eligible for the agency’s vehicle insurance. Required to drive all agency vehicles which include vans, 15-passenger vans, and Bus

Supervisory Responsibility:

This role directly supervises Day Program Employees.

Work Hours:

Hours are varied depending on the needs of the organization. This may include, but is not limited to days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

The work environment is consistent with similar office environment settings.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to hear and speak. The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, reach, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. 

Travel:

Frequent travel within a 25-mile radius is expected for this position. Occasionally travel beyond a 25-mile radius may be required, including out of state travel.
