Job Description:

This position provides for a clinical and evidence-based use of dance/movement to meet the individualized healthcare goals of patients through individual, group or environmental intervention.

Job Specifics

Essential Functions

  • Develop and provide appropriate dance/movement therapy interventions for patients and families.
  • Assist in managing and purchasing dance/movement therapy supplies and inventory.
  • Manage time and prioritize patient care and tasks.
  • Document dance/movement therapy interventions in patient charts in a timely and thorough manner, including initial assessments and progress notes.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the appropriate scope of dance/movement therapy within a clinical setting.
  • Collaborate with medical team, nursing, and other family support service departments, which could include presenting educational in-services about dance/movement therapy within the medical setting.
  • Participates in selection and training of new hires.
  • Adheres to the dance/movement therapy code of ethics.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Dance/Movement Therapy (Approved by the American Dance Therapy Association (ADTA)) or Master’s degree in related field with alternate route approved by the ADTA. Degree will be verified.
  • Registered Dance Movement Therapist

Preferred Qualifications

  • Board Certification as a Dance/Movement Therapist.
  • One year of experience in a clinical setting
  • Clinical mental health counseling credential

Physical Requirements

  • Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
  • Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate equipment and materials with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, and art material use.
  • Need to walk and push up to 50 pounds of supplies and equipment on rolling cart.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience. 

$29.43 - $45.39
