Job Description Summary:


 

Provides supervision of the Crisis Support Specialist and associated processes. Organizes, implements, and evaluates educational programming related to the crisis intervention model. Maintains a tracking system for required certifications.

Essential Functions:

  • Plans, develops, coordinates, facilitates, and provides crisis intervention training and education to establish skills and competencies. Identifies gaps and opportunities for enhancing educational programming.
  • Manages direct reports, evaluates training fidelity, and coordinates training schedule to ensure adequate coverage and contingency plan.
  • Oversees and facilitates scheduling, continuing education certifications, attendance, documentation of competencies, and evaluations. Manages other curriculum-based learning and educational events.
  • Works in coordination with BH Administration to engage in systematic assessment of policies, processes, safety data and workflows to help develop strategic interventions with an eye toward enhancing staff and patient safety.
  • Remains current in and incorporates valid clinical and educational evidence or research findings into teaching methods and educational programs.
  • Enforces and provides guidance on state and governmental standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Serves as a liaison to other NCH training and education programs.

Education Requirement:

Bachelor's Degree in psychology, sociology, social work, education, criminal justice, or related field, or equivalent experience, required.

Certifications:

Certification as a Crisis Intervention Trainer, required.

Skills:

  • Proficient with MS Office, time management, and organization.
  • Demonstrates high level of initiative & autonomy, clinical decision making, and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, adept in collaboration, and ability to relate effectively with all hospital staff.
  • Ability to effectively organize and facilitate meetings to produce tangible outcomes.
  • Demonstrated skills in teaching, educational or treatment program development, process implementation and maintenance, or related tasks. 
  • Ability to use sound judgment and ethical decision-making.

Experience:

  • Four years of demonstrated skills or knowledge in the provision of crisis intervention training and skills, required. 
  • One year of experience in a hospital setting within the past 3 years, required. 
  • Experience in de-escalation and safety training, required. 
  • Pediatric behavioral health experience, required.
