Crisis Professional/ Therapist – Acute Care Unit 

  • Salary Ranges:
    • Bachelor’s degree: $24.04 - $33.66 per hour
    • Master’s degree unlicensed: $25.97 - $36.36 per hour
    • Master’s degree with Candidacy: $27.89 - $39.05 per hour
    • Master’s degree Licensed: $31.75 - $44.42 per hour
    • Master’s degree Duel Licensed: $33.34 - $46.68 per hour
    • Based on relevant years of experience
  • Location: Fort Collins, Colorado at our Longview Campus
  • Status: Multiple Full time, 40 hours per week 
  • Hours: Day shifts available (12-hour shifts alternating with 8-hour shifts on Wednesday. (7am-7:30pm)



Employees working at locations operating 24/7 earn a differential.  Shift differentials are also available for evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.

Role Overview:


Provides clinical support and direct care to individuals in acute, bed-based behavioral health crisis settings across a continuum of experience levels (Crisis Professional I–V). Delivers crisis intervention, ongoing assessment, and therapeutic services in collaboration with nursing, psychiatry, and interdisciplinary team members to support stabilization, safety, and recovery. Engages in treatment planning, milieu support, and discharge coordination while monitoring changes in clinical presentation and adjusting interventions in response to acuity and risk. Functions as a consistent clinical presence throughout the crisis episode, ensuring continuity of care from admission through transition to the next level of service. In more senior capacities, contributes to clinical oversight, supports team decision-making, and provides informal mentorship to less experienced staff, while promoting trauma-informed, equitable, and person-centered care within a structured therapeutic environment.

Essential Duties (Levels I–V):

  • Provide behavioral health support and therapeutic intervention in acute and crisis stabilization settings to ensure client and staff safety. 
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of client clinical status, risk, and response to treatment; adjust interventions in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. 
  • Deliver individual, family, and group interventions within scope of licensure using evidence-based, trauma-informed practices to support stabilization and recovery. 
  • Develop, implement, and update individualized safety, treatment, and service plans in partnership with clients, families, and the treatment team. 
  • Facilitate client intake, orientation, and engagement in unit expectations, therapeutic programming, and group activities. 
  • Maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic milieu by de-escalating crises, resolving conflicts, and responding to emergency codes as needed. 
  • Complete timely, accurate, and comprehensive documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards. 
  • Collaborate with clinical, medical, psychiatric, nursing, case management, peer support, and external providers to coordinate care, admissions, discharges, and referrals. 
  • Advocate for client needs across systems including healthcare, housing, social services, legal, and community-based resources. 
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, case reviews, supervision, debriefings, and quality improvement activities. 
  • Support a trauma-informed, inclusive, and recovery-oriented environment for all clients. 
  • Provide consultation and support to team members, including junior staff, as appropriate to role level. 
  • Assist with unit operations, including supporting group activities, family meetings, visitation, and discharge planning coordination.


Minimum Qualifications:


Education, Experience, and Licensure

  • Experience working in a community-based behavioral health setting providing direct support and services to individuals with mental health and/or substance use challenges is required or preferred based on level. Advanced levels typically require two or more years of relevant experience.
  • Experience coordinating mental health interventions and services with community partners and external agencies is preferred.
  • Completion of the Colorado Behavioral Health Administration (BHA) Crisis Professional Curriculum through the OwnPath Learning Hub is required within 90 days of hire unless already Crisis Professional Certified.
  • Participation in a Substance Use Disorder training program is required upon hire where applicable.
  • Colorado Certified Addiction Specialist (CAS) certification is preferred or required for designated levels.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification is required at hire or must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
  • Valid Colorado driver's license, or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire, is required. Employees must maintain an acceptable driving record and may be required to safely transport clients to appointments, community activities, treatment programs, and partner agency locations.

  • At least one year of demonstrated experience working in a community-based behavioral health setting, providing direct support or services to individuals with mental health and/or substance use challenges preferred
  • Bilingual/bi-cultural preferred
