Overview

We are seeking a Crisis Intervention Coordinator to lead and oversee crisis services throughout Madison, Greene, Calhoun, Jersey, Macoupin, Montgomery, and Bond Counties. This role is responsible for supervising a 24/7 crisis intervention program, ensuring high-quality, timely response to individuals in crisis, and guiding staff in complex clinical and legal decision-making. The ideal candidate is a strong leader with experience in crisis services, the ability to manage high-pressure situations, and a commitment to recovery-oriented, trauma-informed care. Preference will be given to applicants who live within these seven counties.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight of crisis intervention services operating 24/7 across assigned counties
  • Supervise Crisis Intervention Specialists (Levels I–IV), ensuring appropriate staffing coverage and program performance
  • Provide clinical and operational guidance on crisis response, including involuntary hospitalization decisions and alternative interventions
  • Exercise independent judgment in prioritizing services and ensuring timely, appropriate care delivery
  • Coordinate program development, implementation, and evaluation in alignment with policies, procedures, and regulatory standards
  • Analyze program outcomes and implement improvements based on evaluation results
  • Train, supervise, and evaluate staff, interns, and volunteers; ensure completion of required trainings (including Relias when applicable)
  • Collaborate with hospitals, law enforcement, community partners, and internal programs to support coordinated care
  • Provide direct crisis intervention services to clients and families as needed
  • Collect, analyze, and submit required program data and reports accurately and on time
  • Promote a culture of customer service excellence and adherence to organizational standards

  • Promote trauma-informed care and evidence-based crisis intervention practices
  • Serve as a role model, fostering professionalism, collaboration, and accountability among staff
  • Maintain composure and provide clear direction in high-stress, time-sensitive situations
  • Build strong partnerships with community stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a human services field required
  • OR Bachelor’s degree with at least five (5) years of human services experience
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Experience in crisis intervention, emergency services, or behavioral health strongly preferred
  • Valid driver’s license, private automobile insurance, and insurability required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and electronic medical record (EMR) systems
  • Strong clinical judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to manage complex, high-risk situations and guide staff effectively
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with diverse populations and community partners
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to all organizational policies and protocols

The anticipated starting pay for new hires for this position is between $49,000 - $55,000 annual salary. There are several factors taken into consideration in determining base pay, including but not limited to: job-related qualifications, skills, education, experience, local market conditions, and internal equity.
