Summary/objective

Under the supervision of the Crisis Program Senior Manager, the Crisis Bed Supervisor Lead is responsible for administrative supervision of the Crisis Bed Program. This position will provide program oversite for youth admitted to the Crisis Bed Program with a wide variety of psychological and emotional problems (ie. aggressive and defiant behavior due to problems with emotion regulation, suicidal/homicidal ideation, plans, or attempts, family conflicts, etc.) to ensure the safety and wellbeing of clients in a Crisis Bed setting. The incumbent is responsible for supervision of Mental Health Technicians and Crisis Bed Shift Supervisors. They are dedicated and committed to delivering high-quality, compassionate, and therapeutic client care.

Essential functions:

Treatment Implementation in Crisis Bed Setting:

  • Collaborate closely with Crisis Bed Clinical Coordinator Therapist to ensure the highest clinical standards are maintained.
  • Completes Intake and Discharge meetings as back-up to the Clinical Coordinator when needed, including implementation of individualized plans
  • Apply knowledge related to developmental factors, family, and community systems to participate in the development and implementation of a person-centered treatment plan.
  • Use critical thinking and risk management skills when connecting with clients in Crisis Bed.
  • Understand warning signs and risk factors associated with suicide risk and risk of harm to others.
  • Maintain professional, trauma-informed, and empathetic interactions during interactions with children, families, and stakeholders.
  • Develop comprehensive skills providing support for children and youth in Crisis Bed.

Program Coordination & Operational Leadership:

  • Provide leadership, coaching, and supervision for Crisis Bed Shift Supervisors and Mental Health Technicians.
  • Responsible for Shift Supervisor and Mental Health Technician scheduling, hiring, training, and performance management.
  • Oversee menu, household, and program operations by assigning and monitoring responsibilities related to menu planning, food ordering, supply procurement, inventory management, and other operational needs; ensure completion through effective supervision of Shift Supervisors and maintain compliance with OCCL, DPBHS, contractual requirements, licensing standards, and agency policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for implementing and monitoring program performance indicators and recommend course corrections to enhance service delivery.
  • Work respectfully and cooperatively together as a unified team member in a professional manner with other Crisis Bed staff, families, and community members.
  • Assumes responsibility for ongoing professional development and actively contributes to the professional growth and development of staff.
  • Ensures Incident Reports are initiated, completed, reviewed and submitted according to policy.
  • Foster strategic relationships with schools, healthcare providers, community agencies, and family advocacy groups.

Case Management:

  • Assure electronic documentation and verbal shift reports, are completed accurately and timely before the end of each shift.
  • Communicate with appropriate stakeholders to maintain a systems-based approach.
  • Collaborate with school staff regarding educational needs for clients while they are in the Crisis Bed, as needed to support the Clinical Coordinator
  • Communicate with and provide appropriate documentation to the DPBHS team for utilization review, as needed to support the Clinical Coordinator
  • In partnership with the Crisis Program Senior Manager and Crisis Bed Clinical Coordinator, develop and maintain programmatic needs, data collection, and outcome studies.

  • Must successfully complete refresher trainings within the identified timeframes.

DE Physical Demands:

  • This position involves physical interventions, including the potential use of holds, and may require the ability to lift, carry, and assist clients as needed. The successful candidate must be physically capable of responding to challenging situations in a safe and controlled manner
  • Frequent walking, standing, twisting, bending, squatting
  • Proficient auditory and visual skills 

Travel required: Travel for specific tasks

Schedule:

  • Monday-Friday 10a-6p with flexibility to meet the needs of the program
  • Some evening and weekend requirements
  • Participates in Shift Supervisor On-Call Rotation for program coverage 

Minimum qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Public Health, or a related human services field, plus two years of experience in behavioral health, health care, public health, crisis services, or youth-serving programs.
  • Two years proven supervisory experience
  • Familiarity with Delaware’s behavioral health systems.
  • Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record

Preferred qualification:

  • Experience working in an inpatient or residential/group home setting
  • Bilingual
