 CQI Training Specialist

The CQI Training Specialist is a hybrid training and continuous quality improvement role responsible for supporting high-quality, trauma-informed services across programs. Positioned within the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) department, this role integrates staff training, coaching, and facilitation with quality review activities
to strengthen practice, ensure compliance, and improve outcomes for children, youth, and families served by One Hope United.

The CQI Training Specialist conducts case file reviews, incident report analyses, outcome measure reviews, peer review facilitation, and site observation visits to identify strengths, gaps, trends, and system-level improvement opportunities. Findings are used to inform targeted training, technical assistance, and collaborative problem-solving with program leadership and staff.

The role includes responsibility for clearly distinguishing between non-punitive, learning-focused CQI reviews and corrective or compliance-related review processes. While most review activities are developmental in nature, the CQI Training Specialist may support or contribute to accountability-driven reviews as assigned, ensuring appropriate transparency, documentation, and escalation in accordance with agency policy. All CQI activities are grounded in principles of confidentiality, psychological safety, equity, and continuous learning.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and implement training curricula for site staff, including onboarding, ongoing professional development, and compliance-based training.
  • Facilitate in-person, virtual, and hybrid training using adult learning principles and trauma-informed approaches.
  • Conduct case file record reviews, including both physical files and electronic records, to assess documentation quality, compliance, and alignment with best practices.
  • Facilitate peer review processes to promote reflective practice, shared learning, and continuous improvement.
  • Review and analyze incident reports to identify trends, training needs, risk areas, and opportunities for corrective action.
  • Analyze outcome measures and performance data to evaluate program effectiveness and inform targeted training and quality improvement strategies.
  • Conduct regular site observation visits of program sites to assess practice implementation, training effectiveness, and adherence to policies and standards.
  • Assess training needs through data review, stakeholder input, quality assurance findings, performance outcomes, and site observations.
  • Collaborate with CQI team members to align training content with continuous quality improvement initiatives, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate training, review, and observation documentation required for audits, licensing, and accreditation.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness using participant feedback, knowledge assessments, performance indicators, and observational findings; recommend improvements as needed.
  • Support implementation of evidence-based and best-practice models through targeted training, coaching, and technical assistance.
  • Develop and update training materials, manuals, job aids, and learning resources.
  • Partner with program leaders to address identified performance gaps through customized training, peer review feedback, and problem-solving support.
  • Stay current on child welfare, behavioral health, residential services, and trauma-informed care trends and integrate relevant updates into training content.
  • Participate in CQI projects, workgroups, and agency initiatives as assigned.
  • Uphold One Hope United’s mission, values, and commitment to equity, integrity, accountability, confidentiality, and continuous learning.
  • Ensure CQI and peer review activities are conducted using a non-punitive, learning-focused approach that emphasizes systems improvement rather than disciplinary action, while clearly identifying when reviews are corrective or compliance-driven.
  • Identify systemic trends and root causes from case file reviews, incident reports, outcome data, and observations, and collaborate with leadership to develop sustainable improvement strategies.
  • Escalate review findings that indicate potential safety risks, regulatory noncompliance, or serious practice concerns to appropriate leadership, compliance, or human resources personnel in accordance with agency policy.
  • Facilitate CQI and peer review processes in a manner that protects confidentiality, promotes psychological safety, and encourages honest reflection and shared accountability.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of client, staff, and organizational information in accordance with agency policy, ethical standards, and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Demonstrate strong collaboration skills by working effectively with CQI staff, program leadership, trainers, and frontline staff to achieve shared goals.
  • Apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to identify training gaps, address barriers to implementation, and develop practical, solutions-oriented responses to emerging challenges.
