Roxbury is a 112-bed behavioral healthcare facility located in Shippensburg, PA. Our 52-bed acute adult and adolescent psychiatric units treating individuals with mental illnesses who need short-term hospitalization. In our 60-bed chemical dependency unit, detoxification is conducted under close medical supervision for adults dealing with substance abuse issues.  Our mission is to provide high-quality behavioral health services in an environment that values service excellence, respect, and ethical standards, integrity, compassion, and teamwork.

 

We are currently recruiting a full-time Counselor to work on our Substance Use Disorder Unit. The Counselor assesses the patient’s drug and alcohol history, establishes treatment goals, and provides therapeutic and educational services consistent with the philosophy and objectives of Roxbury Treatment Center. The schedule for the full-time position is day shift either Sunday - Thursday or Tuesday - Saturday.

JOB ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Substance Use Disorder Counselor is responsible for developing and carrying out treatment and direct patient care for adults within the substance abuse detox and rehabilitation program for the recovery of chemical dependency, substance abuse or addictions. The work involves interviewing chemically dependent patients, completing assessments and social histories, conducting individual and group counseling sessions, conducting orientation for new admissions, and developing and implementing individual treatment plans.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Master’s Degree or above from an accredited college with a major in Counseling, Social Work, Chemical Dependency, Psychology or other related field – OR –
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college with a major in Counseling, Social Work, Chemical Dependency, Psychology or other related field and one year of clinical experience – OR –
  • Associates Degree from an accredited college with a major in Counseling, Social Work, Chemical Dependency, Psychology or other related field and two years of clinical experience - OR -
  • Licensed RN with 1 year of counseling experience in a health/human services field – OR –
  • Certified additions counselor
