Position: Therapist (Outpatient Clinician)
Organization: Jewish Family Services (JFS)
Location: 10950 Schuetz Road, St. Louis, MO 63146
Status: Full-time, Exempt
Schedule: Primarily daytime office hours, with two evenings per week until 7:00 PM to accommodate client needs
Salary: $57,158 to $84,000; final Salary commensurate with experience, education, and licensure

The Opportunity
Are you a compassionate, skilled clinician looking to make a lasting difference in people's lives? JFS seeks a Therapist to join our Clinical Services team and provide direct, high-quality mental health care to individuals, couples, families, and groups throughout the St. Louis community.
In this role, you will deliver individual, family, and group therapy; conduct assessments; and develop individualized treatment plans that meet each client where they are. Your work will provide warm, dignified, and accessible mental health care to clients of any age, race, religion, ethnicity, gender, or sexual orientation — helping people build resilience and move toward lasting well-being.

Your Role
- Clinical Care Provider: Deliver individual, couple, family, and group therapy using evidence-based, client-centered approaches, including crisis intervention and emergency services as needed.
- Skilled Assessor: Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments and develop individualized treatment plans, discharge plans, and follow-up care tailored to each client's goals.
- Collaborative Teammate: Work alongside therapists, psychiatric providers, and other professionals to deliver coordinated, team-based care, and engage family members in support of client progress.
- Resource Connector: Refer clients to JFS programs and community resources to ensure continuity and comprehensiveness of care.
- Diligent Documenter: Complete accurate, timely case documentation in JFS's electronic health record and billing systems, and maintain strict compliance with HIPAA and licensure regulations.
- Community Educator: Plan and facilitate outreach activities and presentations that raise awareness of mental health and JFS's therapeutic services.
Who You Are
Education & Experience
You hold a Master's degree in social work, counseling, psychotherapy, or a related clinical field, along with experience delivering psychotherapy and/or social services. Experience with children, adolescents, families, or the populations served by JFS's Clinical Services programs is preferred, as is prior experience in a nonprofit, school-based, or community mental health setting.
Licenses & Certifications
Licensure as a counselor, clinical social worker, therapist, or psychologist is required (e.g., LPCC, LPC, LMHC, LMSW, LCSW). Candidates working toward full licensure under qualified clinical supervision are also encouraged to apply.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Clinical Expertise: Strong interviewing, psychosocial assessment, and diagnostic skills, including crisis intervention techniques.
- Sound Judgment: Sound clinical judgment and the ability to exercise discretion with sensitive, confidential information.
- Cultural Sensitivity: Ability to work effectively with clients of any age, race, religion, ethnicity, gender, or sexual orientation.
- Clear Communicator: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across a multidisciplinary team and deliver presentations to diverse audiences.
- Tech Proficiency: Comfortable using general office equipment, computers, and related software, including electronic health record and billing platforms such as MedTech.
Physical Demands & Travel
This position requires prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, with periods of standing and movement when facilitating in-person sessions or presentations. The role may involve highly stressful and emotionally charged encounters with clients and family members, requiring emotional resilience and sound professional boundaries. Some travel within the community is required for client sessions, school-based programming, or meetings, so access to reliable, private transportation is necessary. Mileage reimbursement is offered within standard IRS guidelines.
