Contract Clinician

The Contract Clinician provides clinical support to residents in the Mental Health Residential Treatment setting, with primary responsibility for completing intake assessments, supporting the admission process, and facilitating assigned therapeutic groups. The Contract Clinician collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to support resident safety, continuity of care, and treatment goals while providing services within their education, training, licensure, and scope of practice. This is a part-time contract position primarily scheduled for weekend coverage.

 
Tasks & Responsibilities

A. Essential Duties

1. Intake & Admissions

• • Review referral information and clinical prescreens for prospective residents.
  • Conduct clinical intake assessments within scope of practice and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Assess psychiatric history, current symptoms, psychosocial needs, and safety risks.
  • Complete required admission documentation accurately and timely.
  • Communicate clinical concerns and admission recommendations to the appropriate clinical leadership.
  • Coordinate the clinical handoff to the assigned Primary Therapist.

2. Group Facilitation

• • Facilitate assigned psychoeducational, therapeutic, and skills-based groups.
  • Provide groups focused on coping skills, emotional regulation, mindfulness, recovery skills, symptom management, and other identified treatment needs.
  • Document group participation, interventions, and resident response.
  • Encourage resident participation and reinforce treatment goals.

3. Clinical & Resident Support

• • Monitor and communicate relevant changes in resident behavior, mood, and clinical presentation.
  • Provide supportive one-on-one interactions within scope of practice.
  • Reinforce coping, emotional regulation, and recovery skills.
  • Assist with crisis intervention and de-escalation using approved, trauma-informed practices.
  • Participate in risk assessment and safety planning as appropriate to training and scope of practice.
  • Report significant clinical or safety concerns to the appropriate team member.

4. Documentation & Collaboration

• • Complete accurate and timely documentation in the EHR.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Collaborate with Primary Therapists, Clinical Leadership, Medical Staff, RSS, Case Management, and other members of the treatment team.
  • Provide relevant clinical observations and information to support continuity of care.

B. Additional Duties 

• Assists and covers other staff when necessary to maintain high productivity and efficiency in the department.  
• As the company continues to grow, additional responsibilities that are essential for the department to be successful will be assigned accordingly.

Equipment, Tools & Machines 

• Use of computer, telephone, and other office equipment such as a printer and fax.  
• Use of company network and email domain.  

Working Conditions 

• Air conditioned and well-illuminated office environment and outdoor environment.  
• May have several responsibilities at once.  Interaction with others is constant and can be interruptive.   
• Work may be stressful at times due to high level workflow. 

Qualifications

Education:

• • Bachelor’s degree in the human services field (Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, etc.).  
  • Preferred: Master’s degree in a human services field or licensure for state of service

 
Experience:

• • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a mental health or substance use disorder setting.
