Options for Community Living, Inc. is looking for a Community Resource Specialist to join our Thrift Shop team! An ideal candidate should meet the following requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in social work or related health or human services field.
- Minimum (1) year of related experience.
- Must have the ability to lift, carry, and move items weighing up to 25 pounds as needed to perform job duties.
- Valid driver’s license, safe driving record, valid auto insurance and access to a vehicle is preferred.

Salary Range: $22.00/hr. - $25.00/hr.
The above salary range represents Options for Community Living’s good faith and reasonable estimate of potential compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job posting and may be modified in the future. When determining a salary offer, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g., years of relevant experience, education level, language skillset, credentials, professional licensure, budget, and internal equity).
Schedule: Tuesdays & Thursdays, 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM (14 hours/week); Flexibility to pick up additional shifts as needed.
Location: In person; based out of our Thrift Shop in Ronkonkoma, NY

Responsibilities:
At Options for Community Living, Inc., individuals living with a mental health diagnosis live, learn, and develop their potential in an environment that respects personal choice.
The Community Resource Specialist assists the Community Resource Coordinator with the overall management of the Thrift Shop and vocational training and job readiness for residents in the Supportive Housing Program. The Specialist solicits community volunteers and donations for the agency and trains residents in retail skills.
- Opens and closes the Thrift Shop.
- Ensures the sales floor is clean, safe, and organized.
- Participates in annual fundraising events such as street fairs.
- Establishes relationships with community resources to develop agency volunteers and solicit donations.
- Assists with sales and inventory.
- Coordinates donations.
- Assists with bank deposits and reconciliation.
- Assists residents in retail training.
- Coordinates and leads job readiness groups that cover a variety of topics including overcoming barriers to work, benefits, building a resume, completing applications, interviewing and retaining employment.
- Connects residents with job coaches when appropriate.
- Assists clients in obtaining education including traditional education, online courses, independent studies, vocational training programs, etc.
- Assists residents in obtaining special services offered by colleges for individuals with disabilities.
- Completes progress notes in residents’ EHR.
- Assists with monthly reports.
