SUMMARY 

The Vice President of the Community Outreach Center (COC) oversees the operations and development functions of the enterprise. In this role, the Vice President has the primary responsibility to lead, from end to end, the discovery and implementation of economic mobility initiatives and partnerships.

The Vice President develops and maintains relationships with key national, state, regional, and local and community level organizations and partners to engage community partners and secures sponsorship opportunities. This leader will implement evidence-based strategies mobilizing resources that will collectively and effectively interrupt generational cycles of homelessness and poverty and increase economic security and mobility for individuals and families to the middle class and beyond.

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  1. Oversee all business operations for the COC, including the warehousing or retail functions, food truck and catering operations, event space rental, and learning initiatives for external or residential participants.
  2. Develop a multiyear strategic plan; implement solutions that advance COC goals and strategic imperatives.
  3. Lead in the development of strategy, outreach, and engagement of partnerships, with a particular focus on employer, business, industry associations, workforce solutions, and community led organizations.
  4. Coordinate and implement marketing and social marketing initiatives for all COC functions to increase awareness, donations, and participation.
  5. Build and maintain subject matter expertise in economic mobility.
  6. Collaborate with UGM Programs to maximize resident participation in COC training and education opportunities.
  7. Oversee the creation and implementation of an online presence, including COC website and a learning management system.
  8. Foster relationships that engender trust with civic boards, community boards, community-based organizations, elected officials’ offices, local organizations, and community partners to support advancement of COC initiatives.
  9. Develop department leaders, overseeing performance management and coaching.
  10. Oversee the creation, distribution, and retention of internal- and external-facing written materials, operating procedures, PowerPoint presentations, etc.
  11. Conduct outreach presentations to various community groups and corporations throughout the city to engage the community to cultivate a pipeline of sponsorship leads. Assist in the cultivation and development of grant opportunities.
  12. Head stakeholder engagement meetings. Ensure effective facilitation including preparing relevant and impactful meeting materials and ensuring regular and ongoing communication.
  13. Manage expenses and assist in the preparation of an annual budget for COC.
  14. Present regularly to the Board of Directors.

 

CONTINUOUS QUALITY IMPROVEMENT (CQI) & RISK PREVENTION AND MANAGEMENT 

  1. In conjunction with the CEO, identify key impact measures. Manages and oversees implementation of improvement plans that address identified areas in need of improvement.
  2. Use appropriate discretion and authority to enforce risk prevention, management practices, and Policy and Procedures that include but are not limited to protected health information (PHI) and incident management.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES 

A master’s degree in social sciences, social work, public policy, nonprofit management or a related field or a bachelor’s degree and 5 years of experience in community engagement and “systems building”, 4+ years of leadership experience; demonstrated experience motivating, managing, and inspiring a high-performing team. Subject matter expertise and work experience leading projects or programs to promote economic mobility. Entrepreneurial spirit and can-do attitude. The Vice President also demonstrates:

  1. Advanced strategy and planning skills, including creative problem-solving skills and an ability to think strategically over multi-year horizons.
  2. Maintain existing relationships with, or ability to quickly build relationships with stakeholders.
  3. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, able to build authentic relationships with diverse stakeholders. Strong facilitation and presentation skills before multiple types of audiences.
  4. Ability to set priorities, take initiative, manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  5. Excellent professional writing and communication skills.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS AND HOURS 

Primarily office conditions, however local travel is required. Some work in storage areas. General working hours 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Flexible scheduling may be required. Some additional evening, early morning and weekend work may be required with this position. Flexibility in hours will be determined in consultation with the CEO.
