SUMMARY: Planning and implementing promotional strategies and fundraising for all Agency for New Americans programs is a core responsibility of this position. A substantial part of this communication and outreach work includes creating content and designing promotional materials for target audiences, as well as executing social media campaigns on a variety of web-based platforms. The Community Outreach Specialist also helps develop collaborative relationships with Treasure Valley area neighborhood organizations. The position is also responsible for managing all aspects of the agency’s volunteer and intern program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Community Outreach Specialist will have primary responsibility for:

  • Focuses on increasing, broadening and deepening program participation, as well as making the public aware of Agency for New Americans programs;
  • Works with the Program Administration to plan, promote and present all of Agency for New Americans programs;
  • Develops strategies for the promotion of Agency for New Americans programs including identifying target audiences and the most effective methods of reaching them;
  • Maintains and updates the Agency for New Americans website; utilizes social media to reach target audiences, distributes direct mail and email promotions, and develops other web-based promotions;
  • Cultivates and maintains relationships with local and regional community stakeholders and partners;
  • Develops ANA yearly events calendar and works with ANA AD and volunteers to organize fundraising events and logistics
  • Analyzes previous events data and improve fundraising efforts
  • Identifies potential new sources of support from individuals, community organizations, corporations and foundations;
  • Creates and maintains compelling presentations for stakeholders;
  • Enhances the ability of the agency to holistically serve refugee clients;
  • Increases the community’s awareness and support of the refugee resettlement and creates more resettlement advocates and donors;
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required

VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage and promote ANA’s Volunteer and Intern Program; recruit, screen, interview, assign duties, supervise;
  • Manage and improve existing policy and procedure packet for all volunteers;
  • Develop job descriptions for all volunteer and internship positions;
  • Conduct an orientation for all new volunteers and interns;
  • Train existing volunteers for various positions;
  • Coordinate volunteer assignments and activities with staff to promote the goals of the resettlement program;
  • Maintain volunteer database and ensure accurate record-keeping of volunteers’ activities and hours;

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal and public speaking skills;
  • Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising plans;
  • Coordinate and manage fundraising events and campaigns;
  • Train and support volunteers in fundraising activities;
  • Demonstrated ability with social media marketing and promotional strategies;
  • Superior social media outreach strategies;
  • Ability to work under pressure, organize work assignments, set priorities and meet deadlines;
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable in order to contribute to problem-solving activities within a growing, changing organization;
  • Ability to act in a tactful and diplomatic manner and work on sensitive issues with diverse groups of individuals;
  • Previous experience in event planning and coordination;
  • Proven track record of successful fundraising campaigns;
  • Analyze fundraising data and adjust strategies as needed;

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in multi-cultural studies, communication, marketing, or a related field. Equivalent professional experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Driver’s license is required. 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Works in general office environment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

Must be able to tolerate heat and cold. Sitting, repeated hand and wrist motions (for computer use) are required. May be required to lift up to 15 pounds.
