Job Summary

Under the direction of the Clinical Director, the therapist oversees the clinical needs of children in the Foster Care Programs of Marygrove and Good Shepherd Children and Family Services. This position requires flexibility, and the ability to set clinical goals as well as make clinically appropriate decisions. The clinician will provide individual and family counseling, occasional crisis intervention and group therapy, with the expectation of 15-20 billable hours weekly. As needed and within the restraints of the set case load and scheduling expectations, the therapist may assist with clinical services in other Marygrove or Good Shepherd programs. The therapist provides regular support to clients and programs through consultation with program staff in team meetings.

Job Responsibilities

OVERVIEW & RESPONSIBILITIES
1) Works closely with all treatment team members in developing, monitoring, modifying, and implementing the specific treatment plan for each foster home child.
2) Maintains flexibility in work schedule to meet the needs of clients, including availability a minimum of two evenings per week.
3) Complete an initial therapeutic bio-psycho-social assessment, consult on risk and safety planning, and document diagnosis on each assigned client, as a component of the Intake Assessment, within contracted deadlines.
4) Complete Initial Treatment Plan to address clinical goals, ensuring input from involved team members, to support successful client outcomes. Complete discharge or transition planning throughout the intervention and provide a written discharge or transition plan within 14 days of termination of services.
5) Provide 1-hr weekly or semi-weekly sessions followed by written progress notes as appropriate on each assigned client. Sessions may be conducted in-home, in office and remotely as needed.
6) Provides crisis intervention as needed and group therapy at least once a month.
7) Provide clinically appropriate family therapy at frequencies and durations prescribed in the Individual Treatment Plan followed by written progress documentation on each participating client.
8) Ensure that billing for therapeutic services provided is submitted within established time frames, with notes entered in FamCare system and submitted for Medicaid billing and preauthorization. Billable notes are to be completed by the 5th day of the following month.
9) Attends all required meetings on and off campus.
10) Submits various required reports and documentation in a timely manner.
11) Participates in staff trainings as mandated.
12) Participate in continuous program/quality improvement efforts.
13) Other duties as delegated by the Clinical Director.

Job Requirements

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
• Master’s degree (MSW), MA/MS in the field of mental health or equivalent.
• 2-5 years related experience and/or training.
• LCSW or LPC license preferred, or license eligible and in supervision for licensure.
• Experience in working with severely emotionally disturbed children, adolescents and their families.
