Position Title: Director of Clinical Education – Non-Tenure Track Faculty

Position Summary

The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders of Temple University College of Public Health invites applications for a Director of Clinical Education. This is a Fiscal Year, Non-Tenure Track faculty position with 18 credits of administrative and 18 credits of teaching-related workload per fiscal year. We seek an outstanding educator to join our vibrant, collaborative, and highly interdisciplinary academic community and contribute to our mission of academic excellence, innovative research, and inclusive education. The chosen candidate would begin as director in early 2027.

Responsibilities

This faculty member will provide leadership and oversee all aspects of clinical education in the newly inaugurated Ellen Schwartz Speech Language and Hearing Center in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders.  Key responsibilities will include:

Ensuring that all clinical training meets accreditation standards established by the Council of Academic Accreditation in Communication Sciences and Disorders  and the Pennsylvania Department of Education.

Conducting preclinical and clinical advising in conjunction with the MA-SLH Program Director.

Assigning on- and off- campus clinical assignments.

Working with the CPH Office of Clinical Practice and Interprofessional  Education to establish and maintain partnerships with external partners.

Verifying that faculty, students, volunteers and other personnel have required clearances and training (HIPAA, FERPA, Health Clearances, Background Checks) in conjunction with the office of Clinical Practice and department staff.

Maintaining compliances for clinical component of MA SLH program.

Monitoring student progress and participating in formative and summative assessments for ASHA certification and PDE standards in on and off campus.

Approving completion of clinical requirements for graduating students to ensure that student records accurately reflect clinical experiences.

Teaching academic and/or clinic courses in areas of expertise.

Contributing 4 hours of service per week per University guidelines.

Qualifications

Required 
The successful candidate will hold a Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology or the equivalent, the CCC in Speech Language Pathology and hold or be eligible for Pennsylvania State Licensure. Candidates will have a minimum of 7 years of clinical experience and prior on- or off-campus supervision experience. 

Preferred 
Qualifications include administrative experience, knowledge of funding mechanisms, academic teaching, and/or interdisciplinary service delivery.

The Department

The Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) is ranked in the top 10%25 of training programs in the US.  We offer an undergraduate and graduate degree in Speech Language and Hearing as well as certificates in American Sign Language and Linguistics.  The CSD Department also works closely with disciplines in other departments including Public Health, Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, Nursing, Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Social Work, and Social and Behavioral Sciences.  The CSD department is at the forefront of developing effective assessments and intervention programs for individuals with risk for communication disorders.
