Salary: $50,000- $55,000

Location: Annandale, NJ

Work hours: Tuesday-Saturday 9:00am-5:00pm

Full time 40 hours per week 

Position Overview: Under the direction of the Team Leader-Licensed or Wellness Clinician-Licensed, provides direct services to individuals to secure and maintain permanent housing, assesses history, current needs and preferences of person’s served in the areas of mental health and substance use. Works with persons served and the team to develop integrated individualized mental health and substance use treatment goals and interventions. 


Essential Job Functions

Create and Maintain:

  • A wellness and recovery-oriented environment by using person-first language, respectful documentation, person-centered planning, and evidence-based practices 
  • A culture of compliance with internal and external policies, regulations, laws and high ethical and professional standards. 

CSS Services: 

  • Contribute to the development, implementation, monitoring, and updating of the Individualized Recovery Plan/Individual Recovery Plan (IRP). 
  • Perform therapeutic rehabilitative skill development as outlined in the CSS Regulations. 
  • Offer services appropriate to meet person’s served needs as identified in the Comprehensive Rehabilitation Needs Assessment (CRNA) and included in each individuals IRP. 
  • Perform crisis intervention as indicated 
  • Coordinate and manage services in conjunction with the team. 
  • Supportive counseling, medication education, mental health education and early crisis intervention 
  • Engages people receiving services in the treatment process. 
  • Provides medication education. 
  • Provide culturally competent services. 
  • Provide housing support services to include pre-tenancy, move-in and on-going tenancy supports. 
  • Establishes and implements treatment interventions as outlined in IRP’s. 
  • Assess individual’s daily living skills, and teach individual’s needed skills in the areas of budgeting, cooking, laundry, cleaning, shopping, personal hygiene and self-advocacy issues 
  • Technical assistance and education to members of the team in the area of substance abuse treatment 
  • Provides clinical leadership for CSS team in the area of Integrated Dual Disorder Treatment. Provides intensive integrated dual-recovery services, individual and group treatment service, outreach, referral and case management to adults with co-occurring disorders. 
  • Perform evidence-based practices that are appropriate for implementing community support services. This may include Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral and Educational Strategies, Trauma Informed Care, Career Services, Permanent Supportive Housing, IMR and WRAP. 
  • Completes all documentation on-time per the program’s timeline for documentation. 
  • Completes statistical reports as assigned related to services and outcomes. 
  • Will participate in individual and group supervision as scheduled. Will actively seek individual supervision sessions with a licensed supervisor. 

Direct Services for Persons with Co-Occurring: 

  • Performs co-occurring intake assessments as needed. 
  • Assess individual’s substance use history and current needs. Works with the individual and the team to develop substance abuse treatment goals and interventions 
  • Conducts assessments using the ASI, SATS and other tools as needed. 
  • Develop and implement a clinical recovery plan based on the assessment’s and include substance use/cooccurring disorder/IDDT materials and strategies for individual and group interventions, in conjunction with the team. 
  • Provides intensive integrated dual-recovery services, individual and group treatment service, outreach, referral and case management to adults with co-occurring disorders 
  • Provides Stage-Based counseling using motivational interviewing, CBT, 12 Step principles and behavioral interventions. 
  • Facilitates range of Co-Occurring recovery groups as indicated. 
  • As indicated, assist individuals to identify triggers for relapse and focus on a lifestyle centered on recovery. Refer to co-occurring mental health and substance use disorder treatment services, and recovery support resources, including medication assisted treatment. 
  • Educate individuals on the interactive effects of substance use on psychiatric symptoms, social behavior psychiatric and other medications. Encourage and provide practical strategies for alcohol and substance free-living environments. 
  • Collect and share self-help recovery and local co-occurring recovery group meeting lists with individuals and accompany them to local groups and/or meetings in order to encourage engagement/attendance. 
  • Provides linkage (referral) to appropriate services, i.e., detox., rehab., AA/NA, HIV services etc.

Service Coordination: 

  • Acts as a liaison for the persons served as they move through the treatment system. This includes transporting and accompanying individuals to appointments. 
  • Maintains contact with other service providers to encourage referrals and insure effective coordination of services. 
  • Participates in discharge meetings, etc. and meets with other service providers as necessary to assist in coordinating treatment planning and interventions. 
  • Refers to necessary legal services. 
  • Coordinates services with the criminal justice system as needed.

Requirements: 

Education/Certifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, counseling, psychology or criminal justice. 
  • Master’s Degree preferred 
  • CADC required

Experience: 

  • A minimum of 2 years paid, progressive work experience in co-occurring/Integrated Dual Disorder Treatment services or human service experience with strong knowledge of addictions. 
  • Experience as a person in recovery preferred. 
  • 1-year experience if certified as a Psychiatric Rehabilitation Practitioner

Disclosure: 

  • Those who disclose they are in recovery must have two years clean time.

Driver’s License, Vehicle: 

  • Valid driver’s license required 
  • No more than one moving violation within the past 12 months 
  • Vehicle required
