Job DetailsJob Location: SBIRT - Screening, Brief Intervention & Referral to Tx - Hainesport, NJ 08036Position Type: Full TimeEducation Level: Graduate DegreeSalary Range: $65,000.00 - $85,000.00 SalaryThe Co-Occurring Counselor fulfills the SBIRT Clinician function identified in Legacy's approved staffing plan and provides clinical assessment, counseling, and psychotherapeutic and/or alcohol and drug counseling services to individuals, families, and groups consistent with the employee's credential and assigned scope. Within the SBIRT assignment, completes validated substance use screening, brief assessment, Brief Intervention, Brief Treatment, Referral to Treatment, warm handoffs, care coordination, and follow-up for consumers with substance use, mental health, and co-occurring needs. Conducts evaluations, including mental status examinations and psychosocial histories, and participates in diagnosis and individualized treatment planning only to the extent authorized by credential and supervision. Delivers ongoing clinical social work, psychotherapy, and/or alcohol and drug counseling within scope and engages in case consultation, treatment planning, and consumer-centered advocacy. Alcohol and drug counselor interns practice only under a qualified clinical supervisor in an approved supervisory relationship; diagnoses are made by the qualified supervisor and required records are reviewed or co-signed as applicable. Maintains contact with referring agencies and community resources and maintains treatment records in accordance with Agency requirements. The primary grant-funded assignment is SBIRT. Outpatient clinical duties may be performed during SBIRT-funded time when they are part of the approved SBIRT continuum or directly support SBIRT participants, implementation, referral, follow-up, brief treatment, integration into routine care, or sustainability. General outpatient duties unrelated to SBIRT may be assigned only outside the employee's SBIRT-funded level of effort and must be separately allocated and documented.

 

Legacy’s Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) Program is funded through a grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). The program provides early identification and intervention for substance use concerns for individuals age 12 and older, with a particular focus on youth and young adults ages 12–21. The program operates across Atlantic, Burlington, and Camden Counties and integrates SBIRT into outpatient behavioral health, healthcare, school, mobile outreach, and community-based settings.

Services include evidence-based substance use screening, brief intervention and brief treatment when indicated, and referral to treatment for individuals needing more intensive substance use services. The program also provides care navigation, warm handoffs, follow-up, peer and recovery support, and coordination with behavioral health, primary care, substance use treatment, and community resources to reduce barriers and improve continuity of care.

Education/Experience:

Master's degree from an accredited school of social work or counseling, or doctorate in counseling, with at least one year of experience required. Employee must hold a New Jersey license, credential, or approved supervised status that authorizes assigned services. Qualifying pathways include LSW, LAC, LMFT, LPC, LCSW, CADC, LCADC, or alcohol and drug counselor intern/credentialed intern status while working toward CADC, LCADC, or another applicable health professional credential. Intern practice must occur under a qualified clinical supervisor and an approved supervisory relationship consistent with governing requirements.
