Position Summary: South County Academy serves adolescent females ages 13–18 with complex educational, behavioral, and therapeutic needs. Our students live on campus and often come to us following previous placements through DCYF. They benefit from a highly structured, trauma-informed environment focused on healing, growth, and individualized support.  The Clinician works collaboratively with the management team to ensure safety, stability and wellness of students in our care that have been placed through the Department of Children, Youth and Families. Responsible for providing diagnostic assessments and individual, group, and family counseling services for students. Collaborates on cases with behavioral specialists, teachers and other service providers to ensure appropriate delivery of services to youth and families. Provides emergency crisis intervention/assessment as needed and supports direct service staff in the implementation of evidence-based treatments such as Trauma Systems Therapy (TST) throughout the milieu.

Qualifications:


Master’s degree in human services (psychology, social work, marriage/family, etc.) required
Required to be eligible to be licensed in Rhode Island as a Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist or Mental Health Counselor
Proficiency in professional writing  



Skilled in operating various medical record software and hardware, word-processing, and database software programs
Spanish Speaking preferred and is compensated
Flexible schedule with some evenings 
Ability to work independently and part of a team    
Bilingual/ASL skills are compensated by an additional 6%, above base pay.
Multilingual skills are compensated by an additional 8%, above base pay.


Physical Requirements: This position requires residential and community visits, employees in this position must have the ability to:

 


Current driver’s license, reliable transportation, registration and auto insurance   
Ability to communicate effectively    
Travel to and from clients’ residence, community locations and office site, which could include using walkways, stairs and/or elevators  
Ability to lift up to 20lbs 
Provide emergency coverage; ratio to the programs as needed
Ability to be trained in and implement de-escalation techniques utilizing Handle with Care when necessary.
