Position Summary
The Clinician–In Training provides substance use disorder and mental health services to individuals receiving care through WisHope while working toward full professional licensure and developing their clinical skills under appropriate supervision.
This position works closely with members of the clinical, medical, psychiatric, and administrative teams to provide high-quality, client-centered services. The Clinician in Training will participate in assessments, treatment planning, individual and group counseling, care coordination, discharge planning, documentation, and other clinical services within their education, training, credentialing, and scope of practice.
The ideal candidate is compassionate, dependable, eager to learn, and committed to developing their clinical skills while supporting clients throughout the recovery process.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct biopsychosocial assessments and assist in developing individualized treatment plans for newly admitted clients.
- Provide substance use disorder and mental health assessments, counseling, referrals, intervention services, and other appropriate clinical services.
- Provide individual, group, and family therapy or counseling within the employee's education, credentialing, supervision, and scope of practice.
- Conduct client intakes and participate in ongoing evaluation of client needs and progress.
- Develop individualized service and treatment plans and complete treatment plan reviews throughout the duration of care.
- Coordinate with clinical and administrative staff to ensure quality services are provided to clients, families, and referral sources.
- Collaborate with outside providers and community resources to support continuity of care.
- Participate in discharge planning and coordinate appropriate follow-up services and referrals.
- Collaborate with medical and psychiatric providers regarding client care when appropriate.
- Maintain timely, accurate, and professional clinical documentation in accordance with organizational policies and applicable federal and state requirements.
- Participate in individual and/or group clinical supervision as required by licensure, credentialing, or organizational expectations.
- Seek consultation and supervision when encountering clinical situations that exceed the employee's experience, training, or scope of practice.
- Participate in interdisciplinary staffing, treatment team meetings, trainings, and other clinical meetings.
- Represent WisHope professionally at trainings, meetings, community events, and other organizational activities.
- Participate in required cultural competency, diversity, safety, and continuing education opportunities.
- Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and follow ethical standards applicable to the employee's profession and credential.
- Demonstrate a willingness to receive feedback and continually develop clinical knowledge, judgment, and professional skills.
- Complete additional duties as needed to support the delivery of quality services to clients.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in counseling, social work, psychology, behavioral health, substance use disorder counseling, or another related field, OR
- Currently enrolled in an applicable graduate or professional program when permitted by the requirements of the position and applicable credentialing standards.
Licensure/Certification
Candidates must hold a current SAC-IT, LPC-IT and or APSW.
Experience
- Previous experience in behavioral health, substance use disorder treatment, mental health services, social services, or a related field preferred.
