Summary:
The Clinician II at our El Dorado Center Crisis Mental Health Residential program, will provide individual therapy, case management, crisis intervention, and counseling services to MediCal eligible residential participants and assist with stabilizing the mental health of participating clients. Clinical interventions, strategies and services will be based on best practices and selected evidence based practices for mental health and/or co-occurring disorders. These evidence based practices include, Motivational interviewing, CBT, DBT, and mindfulness based practices. This position will work collaboratively with residential counseling staff and medical staff and county psychiatry to ensure that clients receive whole person care and appropriate coordination of treatment services. This individual is critical piece to helping counseling staff understand and implement clinical interventions and best practices.
Responsibilities:
Provides direct client individual therapy and case management in accordance with funder requirements and agency policies and evidence based practices
Clinician will be responsible for a caseload of clients at the residential facility throughout the duration of their treatment, Care coordination and daily documentation in in electronic health record.
Conduct regular various assessments of client including but not limited to Needs and appraisals, biopsychosocial and risk assessments as needed.
As a licensed clinician may oversee interns, approve notes for milieu staff and is responsible for diagnosis for incoming clients.
Provides crisis intervention and counseling
Maintain professional communication with external providers, coordinators and other entities involved in client care and or funding
Maintains client confidentiality by adhering to HIPAA regulations
Responsible for utilizing the approach of Motivational Interviewing to assure a client-centered approach to persons of diverse and underserved backgrounds.
Can be depended upon to report consistently to work at scheduled time and seldom cancels appointments with clients
Employee adheres to MediCal documentation requirements and complete work in a timely, accurate, and thorough manner and is conscientious about assignments
Follows instructions, responds to management direction, is accountable, and keeps commitments.
Maintaining clear professional and personal boundaries
May provide direction to staff and volunteers in coordination with program manager.
May provide clinical supervision to clinical trainees.
Will assist in training documentation, resources and program policies to trainees and new staff.
Qualifications:
Licensed LPCC, LCSW, LMFT or Master’s Level Trainee registered with BBS close to licensure.
Bilingual preferred
Must communicate effectively and be able to use or learn current technology including electronic health records, in the following areas: case notes, assessments, treatment plans, case management.
Knowledgeable in DSM diagnoses
Knowledgeable in clinical assessment tools.
Knowledgeable in Trauma Informed Care
Knowledgeable of or comfortable learning Electronic Health Records.
Experience working with co-existing conditions (SUD and Mental Health)
Demonstrated skills and understanding of effective treatment of addiction and recovery preferred
Commitment to the goal of empowerment of low-income, incarcerated persons from diverse backgrounds
Demonstrated ability to use good judgment and decision-making
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
Organizational ability to keep accurate records
