We’re seeking an experienced and compassionate Clinician to join our Metropolitan Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team in New Orleans.

In this role, you’ll provide direct clinical care while helping develop individualized treatment plans for adults living with severe and persistent mental illness. You’ll work alongside a multidisciplinary team to provide holistic, recovery-oriented services both in the community and through direct interactions with participants and their support networks.

About Metropolitan ACT

The Metropolitan ACT program of Resources for Human Development (RHD) provides community-based services to individuals living with severe and persistent mental illness. Individuals served may also have a co-occurring substance use disorder and/or developmental disability.

ACT is an evidence-based, recovery-oriented service delivery model that uses a holistic, multidisciplinary approach to care. The program works to reduce the debilitating symptoms of mental illness, minimize or prevent recurring acute episodes, and help individuals improve their overall functioning and quality of life.

Metropolitan ACT also provides employment services through Individual Placement and Support (IPS), helping participants pursue meaningful employment as part of their recovery.

The program serves individuals throughout Orleans, Plaquemines, and St. Bernard Parishes.

What You’ll Do

As a Clinician, you will design and help direct the implementation of individualized behavioral and therapeutic treatment plans, goals, and interventions.

You’ll provide direct clinical care through individual counseling, community and residential interactions, and communication with participants' support networks. You’ll also collaborate closely with clinical, direct support, and program management staff to ensure treatment reflects each participant’s individual strengths, needs, and recovery goals.

Your Responsibilities May Include:

Clinical Assessment & Direct Care

  • Conduct screenings and assessments using validated clinical tools.
  • Assess areas such as depression, trauma, substance use, and other identified risks and needs.
  • Provide direct clinical care through individual counseling sessions.
  • Provide therapeutic support during community and residential interactions.
  • Engage participants and their support networks in the treatment process.
  • Help identify changing clinical needs and appropriate interventions.

Treatment Planning & Recovery

  • Lead multidisciplinary team members in developing and updating individualized treatment plans.
  • Develop measurable treatment goals, objectives, and outcomes.
  • Help ensure treatment plans reflect participants' strengths, needs, preferences, and recovery goals.
  • Coordinate clinical information and recommendations from multiple members of the treatment team.
  • Support interventions that promote recovery, stability, independence, and improved quality of life.

Multidisciplinary Team Collaboration

  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary ACT team providing services from a holistic, trauma-informed, clinical, and values-based perspective.
  • Collaborate with therapists, case managers, counselors, program specialists, behavior specialists, physicians, psychologists, psychiatrists, program management, and other providers.
  • Incorporate clinical, medical, behavioral, and community-based information into comprehensive treatment planning.
  • Communicate with family members and other natural supports when appropriate.
  • Help ensure services remain coordinated across the participant's treatment and support network.

Crisis Support

  • Provide support to program leadership when assessing the need for crisis intervention.
  • Approach crisis assessment and intervention from a trauma-informed perspective.
  • Collaborate with team members to identify appropriate interventions and supports.
  • Help individuals maintain stability and avoid unnecessary acute episodes whenever possible.

Documentation & Quality

  • Complete required clinical assessments and documentation accurately and within established timeframes.
  • Maintain records necessary to support current and ongoing services.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities.
  • Participate in required training and professional development activities.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professional standards.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to RHD values throughout all aspects of service delivery.

Qualifications

Required

  • Master’s Degree
  • Current or eligible Louisiana clinical mental health credential, including:
    • PLPC
    • LPC
    • LMSW
    • LCSW
    • LISW
  • Two years of experience
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Personal vehicle
  • Ability and willingness to complete job-related travel
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary behavioral health team

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, lift, reach, and perform the physical responsibilities associated with the position.
  • Ability to travel throughout the community to provide services.
  • Ability to occasionally exert up to 50 pounds of force, frequently exert up to 20 pounds, and regularly exert up to 10 pounds to move objects.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
