Under general supervision, the Clinician performs behavioral health assessments, treatment planning, service coordination, counseling, therapy, treatment monitoring, and discharge planning activities. This position provides clinical services to individuals, families, and groups requiring therapeutic intervention and coordinates care with interdisciplinary treatment team members. The Clinician supports recovery-oriented treatment and assists consumers in managing behavioral health, emotional, developmental, and co-occurring conditions. The position may serve as a team lead or provide guidance to less experienced staff when assigned.
Essential Functions:
Conducts intake, screening, assessment, and referral activities for consumers seeking services.
Completes comprehensive clinical assessments to determine service eligibility, identify needs, establish diagnoses, and determine service priorities.
Develops person-centered treatment plans in collaboration with consumers and relevant supports.
Establishes measurable treatment goals and objectives based upon assessment findings.
Provides individual, family, and group counseling and psychotherapy services.
Evaluates, facilitates, coordinates, and monitors treatment services and consumer progress.
Maintains strict confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA, organizational policies, and applicable laws.
Modifies interventions and treatment approaches to address barriers and promote positive clinical outcomes.
Ensures treatment plans remain current and services are authorized prior to delivery.
Provides clinically appropriate services that meet professional standards of care and payer requirements.
Coordinates discharge planning and continuity of care activities.
Collaborates closely with interdisciplinary treatment team members including psychiatrists, nurses, behavioral health specialists, case managers, paraprofessionals, quality staff, and leadership.
Accurately documents services and treatment activities within required timelines.
Maintains all documentation in accordance with federal, state, payer, and organizational requirements.
Ensures service documentation accurately reflects treatment goals, interventions, and outcomes.
Maintains productivity standards and annual billed service expectations established by the organization.
Participates in clinical staffing meetings, treatment reviews, and case consultations.
Responds appropriately to crisis situations and participates in crisis intervention activities as needed.
Maintains knowledge of best practices, evidence-based interventions, and regulatory requirements.

Required Education & Experience:
Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related behavioral health field from an accredited institution; AND
Two (2) years of related behavioral health experience; OR
Master’s degree from an accredited program and actively pursuing professional licensure in the area of assignment.
Valid Georgia driver's license.

This position operates in office, clinic, consumer home, and community-based settings. The role routinely uses computers, telephones, printers, photocopiers, scanners, and related technology. Occasional travel between Gateway locations and throughout the community may be required.
